    Hi,

I'm just wondering if anyone knows whether you can have an Arch of Swords if neither of you is military? I would say that you could just go ahead with it and who would be the wiser but my darling's bestman and usher are in the Air Force and royal Navy respectivly and will therefore be in uniform. I don't want to step on any rules and cause offence but we'd both love to incoporate this into the wedding when we leave the church as we are both medievalists and have studies weaponary and warfare.

    Help!

    With love
    Kate

I think you can do whatever you like as it is your wedding, and if it did happen to offend anyone then tough luck! You have to have what you want to make it your day, and if your guests know you studied weaponry then they will think it is just down your street. Have fun planning it! :) x

I can't see why that should be a problem, it's a lovely idea and at least there are military connections xxx

My partner is in the Royal Navy but even if he wasn't we would still be having a guard (arch of swords). It is something that is done at a lot of Scottish weddings too and we are having all our guards in kilts and choosing our best male friends that don't have another part in the wedding xx
