We are getting married on Sunday 19th June 2011, but sadly as my fiance is a student nurse it will be in the middle of his course and we have to delay our honeymoon til the beginning of August when he has 2 weeks off :-( I am really disappointed but trying not to make a big deal of it as he already feels really bad. Anyone else having to delay their honeymoon?? Also, just realised my passport expires in March 2011, so will have to send off for a new one in my new name :-)

we might go on a minimoon if h2b can get week after off for a few days but probably have a familymoon a year later or a honeymoon in a couple of years. Which i would like as we plan on having our first planned baby then lol. We already have 2, very much not planned but wouldnt change then for the world. :)
I'm getting married abroad, but family will be there, so wil be having honeymoon later in the year.

We're having a delayed one a) due to money - hoping to pay for it with any prezzie money we get (if we get any) and also due to family being over from Canada and Australia we feel it would be rude to marry and run lol xxxx

I wanted to delay ours so we could go to Thailand as the weather there in Sept is pretty pants. The h2b wants to go straight away so we have decided to go to Italy instead and have Thailand as a separate holiday. You could always book a holiday home in the lakes or somewhere nice for the weekend after and then go away in the August? That way it feels like you are having a break and time together after the wedding and it doesn't interfere with study etc.
CommentAuthordodsden
i think we might have a few days away after the wedding then have our honeymoon later.xxx

CommentAuthorAutumnBride
I am thinking that we may have to do this. Maybe have a week off work and just stay home with each other and then later on when we have some more saved up go on a really nice week away somewhere.
CommentAuthorMrsOwen
We are doing this as my h2b has set holidays from work, he doesnt even know if he can get the monday off after our wedding lol, its better thids way because like emsy5000 said you can save seperatly

We're kind of having a delayed honeymoon. We are having a 'mini-moon' just after the wedding (a few days in Italy) & then (hopefully!!) going to New Zeland the year after, since h2b has always dreamed of going there! x x x
CommentAuthorChrissy~MrsFaulds2b
We're getting married in September and having a mini-moon :). We have a caravan in Pwhelli so we're staying there for the week and then we are having our honeymoon the year after (2012). Going on a cruise and then on to New York. We've done it that way because we wanted our dream honeymoon so it made sense to save for it once the wedding was paid for xx
CommentAuthorweenymoo
We are having a minimoon after the wedding going to Edinburgh for 3 days. Then in 2012 we are hoping to do our honeymoon/familymoon. we should of been able to save up abit more money and want to go away with our girls aswell.
CommentAuthorRoxy_Blade

CommentAuthorAtaraxia
We'll already be away so we're staying on in Spain after the wedding with the guests who are staying on after the wedding and spending time with the in-laws. Then we're hoping to have our honeymoon sometime between the wedding and October when I go back to uni.
Got married 27th June and blessed on July 5th 2012

We were going to go to Thailand after our wedding but realised we couldn't save up for it in time so we are going the year after for 10 days of sun, sea, scary moped riding, cocktail drinking and the other activity, lol. We are asking anyone who wants to get us a gift to buy us holiday vouchers so we may get lucky and be able to go sooner than the year after but we don't mind, it is another thing to look forward to and we will feel like newlyweds all over again! x

we are also having a delayed one. 1, as we might not have the cash to pay for it and 2, the weather where we are going will be much better :0) Dont be too disappointed Kat, it means you have something else wedding related to look forward too! AND you can get your passport etc changed in time for your honeymoon in your new name. xxxx

Thanks Karlie, and to everyone else who has commented on this thread. Although it would have been perfect to go on our honeymoon straight after the marriage, you're right, it will give us something to look forward to in august. I was surprised at how many others are also having a delayed honeymoon for one reason or another, I don't feel so downhearted about it now - thank you :-) Re: passport, I will send off for it before we are married so I get it back in my new name with plenty of time before we go away! My friend checked it out for me on the website and I think I can send off for it 3 months before we marry.
CommentAuthorOuttahere
We will probably have a delayed honeymoon too as we're thinking of booking something last minute but the following year, maybe march april time when the weather is a bit nicer xx
CommentAuthorhaylsmccrone
think its pretty much the norm now, especially if your paying for everything yourself, and work commitments as well
CommentAuthorGregorysGirl
Glad you are feeling better about it, it is amazing how many of us are in the same boat, but I liked the thought that we could be honeymooners a year after we got married, inject a bit of romance back if any was lost, lol. x

So many peeps have different outlooks, we all have our own reasons why we chose these things and if we want the best and it means waiting then so be it... I can cope and deal with that. My only trouble is we are getting wed 9th October and want to go to a place where hurricane season, so we wait until late November through to April... However we have promised my step son that we would take him on holiday for Xmas next year.... gggrrrr I'm guessing it will fall into place itself. xx
