Hi I'm from Aberdeen and was down to either Meldrum House - in Oldmeldrum, The Marcliffe or Guthrie Castle - we ended up choosing the castle as it is gorgeous and caters for our wedding size! x

    Hey Ladies,

Congratulations on getting engaged and I hope that all your plans are coming together nicely.

I got married on 1.12.12 in Aberdeen.
My ceremony was at Oldmachar Church in Bridge Of Don and my reception was held at Elphinstone Hall part of Aberdeen Uni.

The Church was amazing and it was my favourite part! I wish I could go back and do it all over again.
As for Elphinstone Hall... what an absolute joke!! The Master of ceremonies would have been better off not being there, He was on his phone the majority of the time, kept disappearing and to be honest was a bit of a knob.

The hall it self was beautiful, however it was freezing, they had held the graduation the day before and didnt bother changing the times for it so my guests had to sit with their jackets on during the speaches and meal.

My husband and I then constructed a carefully written email to the events manager there whose repsonse was shocking! Not only did he half heartedly apologise, he made excuses and instead of seeing these complaints from our point of view he saw it from his staffs side.

Not only we were the paying customers but it was one of the biggest days of our lives. Thankfully we didnt let this get us down on the actual day but whenever I look back I just remember everyone being cold! For goodness sake, we had children and elderly people there.

The events manager said that due to the time of year and size of venue we should have expected it to be cold, which I think is shocking. They should have had the heating on from first thing in the morning right up until during the meal, however they only had one side of the room heated.

Not only am I dissapointed with their service on the day but I am even more so with their response and way of dealing with our situation. So brides to be... if I were you... look else where!

Future Mrs Taylforth there is a lovely venue called Cortez House on the road to Fraserburgh.
It has lots of different rooms and a lovely garden.
Would be great if you have a medium sized wedding. x
