I can't remember where I saw this or who said it etc but I heard that if you want copies of your wedding cert if you buy them on the day they are £3.50 but at any other time the price goes up to £7 odd. I was thinking about getting a few copies on the day so We can keep one safe and use one to send off to banks, DVLA etc.
I was just wondering if anyone else was thinking about doing this. I know what I'm like for losing things so would be good to have a back up.

I hadn't thought of this but I will get a copy...I had sent my birth certificate off a while back to Incapacity and they lost it for about 3 months *eek*

That is not good. At least they got it back to you in the end. I hate it how they hold you to ransom over these things.

It must vary from different councils but ours dont do copies only replacements if you damage or loose your original and they cost £10.

I think I will have to call them up tomorrow and find out what they do. I'm sure I read it somewhere that they can do more than one cert on the day.

ooh copies is a good idea so much things to change name on will be good to have a few plus can frame one and put it in the loo like celebs do with their awards lol
and now the next chapter
CommentAuthorVicky
I didn't know you could get more than one copy.. Thank you I will look into this
CommentAuthorruchick06
me neither, who do you ask about it?
CommentAuthorlovelylainee
I think you pay the £3.50 to get the certificates in the first place on top of the charge to have the registrar. If you don't pay in advance of the day to get your certificate you have to then pay £7 something afterwards to collect it.
If you lose or replace it then you are charged £10 or more depending on which council to get a new one

I also advise checking your pockets before washing clothes during the 'changing name' period.
