We had planned on somewhere more local, but as soon as i saw it in SWD i feel in love with it. I got a quote for a bus for guests to and from and its £680! do you think its ok to ask guests to pay ten pounds each for it? x

oh really? i might try that. my friend put on a coach from edinburgh to glenrothes and back and it was only £320.
Its the same with photographers to isnt it. You can hire them to take pictures at an event but as soon as you say wedding its hundreds more x

also wondered if it would be cheaper to use a company from here on the way there then a company local to bathgate for the trip back? x

yeah ive had a few like that and at the garage where i worked i spoke to some of the taxi drivers (the minibus taxi ones) they said if i wanted as a favour to me if i slip them 20 quid and buy them coffee and a kitkat they will do my runs to folks doors for 20 quid each for the full night, so at a dilemma do i stick with the coaches or do i do the backhanders, im worried that they wont show due to the times they could be busy.

I was at a friends wedding there last month too and i was so pleased at how it all went! I did notice a couple of small things that I would have preferred the venue hadnt done and i mentioned it to them and they told me they hadnt realised and would rectify it,and it wasnt even my wedding! lol.

I'm in edinburgh, we are getting married at Norton House Hotel x
CommentAuthorLyndsey M
I am from Edinburgh. We have not booked a venue yet (haven't actually set the date for sure..) but we are looking at Borthwick Castle. I really like Thirlestane Castle, however, they do not know if they will be available as they are closed for emergency renovation.
I actually found out this morning that we could have the whole wedding at George Heriot's School, I haven't ran this past the OH yet, not sure how he would feel about getting married at his old school haha. It is stunning though!!
CommentAuthorMrsRusty2B
We're considering a restaurant called Arta in Glasgow city centre as that's the one we both really liked.
CommentAuthorLyndsey M
oh Wow Suzanne, how have I never seen that little gem. That place is steeped in character and is just gorgeous, stop considering and get it booked!
CommentAuthorMrsRusty2B
Lyndsey, we will get it booked once we've spoken to my parents again.

I'm originally from North Uist in the Western Isles, but have settled on the mainland in Glenelg near Skye with my H2B, and we are having the wedding here locally. Only bad thing about having it locally in a small village is trying to book things which will come here for the day is a major hassle! lol But getting there slowly!
CommentAuthorBeccyL
I'm originally from Yorkshire, but moved to Scotland to be with my H2B, we currently live in Musselburgh and are getting married September 2014 in Crete
We originally met through a Greek Island
13th September 2014 on the same Island of Crete
We will become Husband & Wife xxx
CommentAuthorfutureMrsDThomson
Arta is lovely, we had it on our short list. But we can see it from the house I wanted something further away than across the street, though that would of saved money on transport!
CommentAuthorMrsRusty2B
A girl I used to go to school with got married in Arta recently - when she gets back from her honeymoon, I'll ask her questions about how everything went there.
