Hi All, Is anyone from Cambridgeshire or Bedfordshire? I am based in St Neots so on the border between the two really. Someone to share ideas with on suppliers would be great. :-)

Hi Natalie
I'm from Cambridgeshire (St Ives) and work just outside of St Neots.
In regard to suppliers, well, I've been dealing with Ambience Venue Styling in Cambridge for centrepiece ideas, chair covers and sashes etc and have booked my wedding transport with a St Ives-based company.
I'm still up in the air over a few things (wedding invitations, my shoes, groom's attire, wedding rings etc) so I'm happy to share ideas on things :-) .
It's proving tricky to find anywhere locally that will hire me a wedding arch (I have this dream of walking under one with my dad before we head down the aisle!) so if you come across anything like that during your search, do let me know...
And congratulations on your engagement. I am loving every minute of wedding planning!

I will let you know if I find a wedding arch. Where is your venue?
I have found a great company who does invites locally but I don't think we can name companies on here? Also found a couple of cake suppliers.
I wish my wedding was a little closer as it feels so far away at the moment :-)

I'm based in Bedfordshire but I travel more to the way of Cambridgeshire and I am getting married in Cambridgeshire. Anything you are looking for in particular? X

I haven't booked anything at the moment so once I get a venue sorted I will start to book everything else. Which venue are you getting married in?
We are currently looking at Orton Hall in Peterborough, but could possibly be getting married at Wittering Church. X

I have heard some good things about Orton Hall but I think they have minimum numbers in the daytime and we only have 25.
CommentAuthorBethanyS
They do yes. They do packages but the minimum is 50 people. Is that an area you would like to look in because I have a lot of venues I wrote down when planning? X

Thanks; my venue is the Doubletree by Hilton hotel in Cambridge, right beside the river :-) . If I remember rightly, they do do a package for 25 guests.
Oh yes, I forgot that we can't name companies on here. I think we can post things like that on each other's walls though. My cake company is in Little Paxton. I may be interested in the wedding invitation company you've found.
I'm pretty sure the time will fly by once you've booked the venue... wedding planning is taking up most of my evenings at the moment (and I'm not complaining!).

I have added the invitation link to my wall.

just have to say - as I'm an old married lady now of nearly 8 months that I got married in the Doubletree by Hilton last August and they were abso-blooming-lutely fantastic. Vicky was the lady that I dealt with mostly. She doesn't work weekends though but don't worry - the two guy's that dealt with the day (Dario and Gary) couldn't have been more helpful. I hope you have a wonderful day there and enjoy. On a side note - they've got a G-r-oupon deal going for next year - I know 'cos friends of ours are getting married there in August this year (the hotel honoured the deal even though they didn't have to) - oh it makes me want to do it all over again :) :)

Ooh, thanks for that, LynD - I'm so glad you had a positive experience at the Doubletree where I'll be getting married in September!
Did you have your ceremony outside in the gazebo? That's the plan for my wedding, weather-permitting, then the reception in the Granta Suite :-) .
I've spoken to Vicky a few times but Beth is the wedding co-ordinator dealing with my wedding. I think I've met Dario too, at a wedding fair there; he seemed to have a good sense of humour. My brother used to work in the leisure centre there and always had positive things to say about the hotel. Mum and I used to sit outside and watch the weddings taking place there :-)
It must be lovely to look back on your day and have such wonderful memories. This time next year I hope to be on here saying the same :-D

yes, I got married in the Gazebo - are you having the punt ride too... it's very pretty. And the reception was in the Granta SUite I believe (is that the bigger one of the two - the one with the bar in?)
It's a beautiful venue... and make sure your photographer takes you to have photos on the two bridges - the little one at the bottom of the road as it turns the corner towards the hotel - and the one on Silver Street bridge - we felt like celebs :) and must be on so many tourist photos.
