It's ok if you just sway, I've been to some weddings with choreographed dances and it was all a bit OTT. I have a suggestion for songs - how about going for a classic Beatles song or another oldie they tend to be shorter. So instead of spending 4:30 mins plus on the dance floor you'll only spend less. If the DJ plays the intro before you dance or cuts instrumentals that will cut time as well. Just a suggestion.

    Example Songs:
    Beatles - In My Life - 2:28
Nat King Cole - When I fall in Love - 3:08
    Nat King Cole - LOVE - 2:30
    Beatles - I Will - 1:48
    Etta James - At last - 3:00

P.S. I think just swaying is really sweet

My H2B hates slow dances. We are having a slow song to start and then it is mixing into a dance mix of it, and the kids and my MOH are getting up to dance with us. My step daughter is supposed to be putting a routine together for us all to learn but as of yet she still has not!

We'll just be swaying. I have no co-ordination whatsoever. When Rob proposed in front of about 300 people the band on stage made us do a dance in front of everyone and it was so embarrassing. Thankfully at the wedding there will only be about 20 people.

My OH cannot dance to save his life - unless throwing your hands in the air and jumping from foot to foot is classed as "dancing"!!!
No doubt we will just sway as I cry my heart out to our first dance song LOL
He will no doubt start cracking jokes and we will fall about laughing - soppyness just isn't us haha

Yes, I am worried though - that it gets awkward with everyone just watching us sway for 4 minutes lol

We can't dance and were dreading it but I had the idea of learning the waltz and my daughters dance teacher said she will teach us how to do it in an hour easily. My dress is the Disney Cinderella AA one and the theme (loosely) is going to be winter wonderland (colours and sparkle and that's about it) so I thought we could do the Sleeping Beauty waltz. That way we will be too busy to think about the people staring at us as we will have to concentrate on our feet lol.

I thought H2B would hate that idea but he loved it because he had been dreading it too xx

I have to admit I have had this cross my mind numerous times. Even though we are having a small ceremony and possibly a garden party style after event we still want some of the lil traditions for the actual day and it was mentioned about doing some dancing etc later in the evening. So have been slightly worried as he and I have never really shuffled the floor together (tragic) and neither have my dad and I. Neither of them are greatly keen on the idea tbh, I am all for it in some ways (possibly beacuse we have never done it
and I wanna show off my skillz pahahaha).

Methinks I will have to start making excuses to grab them at every opportunity and begin whisking them around the kitchen lol as I don't want them to look too flummaxed or terrified when the moozak starts!

the idea of a first dance is mortifying to me, all we will be doing is shuffling around self conciously, Im not the shy retiring type, but the first dance just....argh!!

I'd quite like to just bypass that whole thing tbh!

I just don't know what we are going to do! We had to go on and be the first other couple on the dance floor at his sisters wedding (because he gave her away) and we were circling around to some soppy song we didn't know just going "we can not do this!!! we can not do this!" and trying not to giggle! We felt like a pair of prize idiots as it's just not our thing. We're now trying to think of a more up beat track to have a quick dance and then are giving our good reliable friends strict instructions to come on to the dance floor with us pretty quick . Last year i went to a wedding where they had felt equally embarrased about the romantic shuffling so did a funky shimmy in a cardboard boat! Was hilarious.

the idea of a first dance, with everyone staring at me horrifies me!! whats worse is i hate being centre of attention, self conscious, weight issues etc! but so many have commented on my weight loss already, im actually dreading people seeing me in my dress!! i dont take compliments easily at all, and the one day where the focus is on the bride...its very hard to admit that the focus is obviously going to be MOI!! ahhhh!!

We will obv do a first dance and OH wants to sort out lessons nearer the time..but i really dont want to face thinking about it tbh! xx

i think i might just avoid the whole firsrt dance thing by having our first song something silly. me and my H2B made a silly bet when we got together that if we ever got married our first dance would be to 'I am the one and only' and it makes me chuckle every time i think about it but it would be funny to see peoples faces

The more I think about it the more worried I get, our song isn't really designed for first dances, it's pretty slow, not in a nice romantic way, but in a music kind of stops and syncopates, I'm getting scared that we're just gona look like hugging crying plum puddings in the middle of the dance floor while all our guest are baffled! H2b is quite good at pretending to be able to dance (he nearly threw me through a window at our mate's wedding recently!) but to be honest we're gonna be blubbing so much I don't think even if we did try and plan something, we're just gonna end up doing the swaying thang anyway!

I have agreed with my sister and sister in law and parents a time in our song that they will join us on the dancefloor and hopefully then others will follow, it lessens the time you're spending out there on your own then and makes it special that other couples join you :) xx

We will be doing the awkward shuffling around the dance floor! However we are going to tell the bridal party and parents to join in after about 40 seconds so that others will then hopefully join and the focus wont be completely on us all the way through! xx

our first dance is 'The Girl' by city and colour, which is quite a slow song so i'm dreading it! we'll definitely be doing the most awkward of shuffling, and probably step on eachothers feet a few times! but we will also be asking our family and friends to join in after the first half so it's not just us for 4mins+ ! x
