Hi guys Well all the vintage posts I have found seem to have gone inactive a while ago ;(. So I am hoping there are some other vintagelings out there at the moment. Im hoping to have my wedding in july 2016 or 17 but it is not set in stone yet. I will also be planning a handfastening so very interested to hear from brides who are having handfastenings to. I have some Ideas but severely lacking any inspiration but there is plenty of time. Where did you vintage or handfastening brides start?

Haha.. you can browse through lots of images and if you like something you 'pin' it to your wall, so that you can easily find it again in the future. It stores the pictures in an album if you like, just like having a folder of photos on your phone. There is a search facility as well so you can search exactly what you are looking for i.e. vintage wedding ideas x
oh thanks hun :D I shall be spending many hours from now till everything is booked looking for ideas Im lucky though as I have a friend who is a totaly 1940s-50s buff so he is helping me out with info and original images that he has..

My OH and I are having a Handfasting Ceremony and it's a Humanist Celebrant officiating. There are MANY ways you can do it and you can even put your own spin on it too. We're getting the Bridal party to each choose a ribbon of silk/lace etc of their choice and OH and I will pick our own too. My plan is to get them braided into a rope and then that will be wrapped around our hands during the handfasting vows and then tied.

victoria Im haveing a cord made by a really amazing lady on fb and my bridesmaids will help me call the quaters (I dont think the ushers will be up for it so my ladies shall have the job) I have asked a friend to officiate for us. FutureMrsPx for me it is a pagan ceremony that is pretty much the same as a christian wedding but you create your sacred space it was first of all it was a ceremony that would last a year and a day basically like a courting period and the couple could go their separate ways after this time period. Alot of pagans now see this as a forever arrangement and others see it as 8 years then it must be renewed so it all depends on what part of pagan faith you come from to what the specific parts of the handfastenng means to you. I am still looking into handfastening as it wasnt something I have looked into untill now as I wasnt thinking I would be planning my own yet. I do plan on writing my own to make it more personal but will be structured from other ones i have found online.

It's an old celtic/pictish tradition where you had a handfasting ceremony (you join hands) and a ceremonial cloth/ribbon/tartan was wrapped or laid on the joined hands and they would vow to be married for a year and a day... if it didn't work out well they went their seperate ways.
In modern day there are various different forms of handfasting and you can do what you want. My OH and I are not religious and neither of us want to get married in a registrars and because we live in Scotland we can have a legally binding Humanist Ceremony who are going to perform this symbolism for us.
You should Go@gle Handfasting and read about it.

I've just had a little read on W1k1.. sounds really nice. So can you do this as part of a 'normal' wedding ceremony? Do you still have the giving of rings? x

Neither OH or I are relgious however we do want some form of intimate symbolism and this is perfect for us and yeah we still have a normal ceremony that will have an exchange of rings.
There are others ways you can add symbolism such as the sand ceremony, a ring warming and jumping the broom.

yes hun you can although I am keeping it separate as we are multifaith im the pagan one H2B has some catholic beliefs and also is a follower of odin but due to the catholic church here being so snotty ( wouldnt even allow my nan to have ave maria sang by a friend would only allow it as a hym for her funeral) so we will be having a methodist ceremony not to much on that side of belief though but jsut to share that part of him and even though Im not christian I have always dreampt of having a church wedding then we will be going onto the handfastening. I know many who have exchanged rings on their handfastening but we will be doing that in the church as we will be being hand tied with a ceremonial cord. We will also be jumping the broom :D
