I am not 100% sure this is in the right place, but couldnt find a more appropriete category, mods feel free to ,pve it if need be :D

Basically, we will be having a lot of family come from far away (ish) for our wedding. With relatives coming from guernsey, ireland, nottingham etc.... I worked out that just my side alone will probably need about 10 rooms for relatives.
So i got to thinking about our local premier inn, which is close to the venues and has god reviews from family who has stayed there in the past. My aunty stays there every time she comes to visit, my brother and my dad have both worked there in the past so i trust it enough to recommend it if you get what i mean?
Well i am thinking about approaching them and seeing if they will set a discounted rate with a promotional code or if they mention the wedding at booking or something for my guests, so that i can recommend the hotel to family who will be travelling.

I thought i would post to see if anyone else had thought of doing this / tried it / had any luck etc.....

I know there are some hotels which offer discount rates for group bookings of a certan amount of rooms, but normally they need to be booked all at once by the same person, so i know that in thoery these discounts can be done, and if i dont ask i certainly wont get will i? Nothing to lose from asking. Not really about budgetting our money, but still counts in this category if it is saving our guests money doesnt it?

i havnt done this but it would def be worth asking. especially if you need a lot of rooms as this will generate money for them. if they say no say ok you'll ask somewhere else and they may get them 2 rethink x

Will sit down with h2b later and look at the guest list to work out who is coming from far away and get an estimate of how many rooms, but i would safely say at least 10.

I used to work all over the Uk and our company used to ring up and get discounted rates for making multiple room bookings so it could be something that they can do. I'm not sure if the Premiers do discounted rates though but I know we used to stay in a lot of Ramada's at £30 per room! Some of them charge well over £100 a night so it was a good deal,

For my guests that need accommodation, if they ring the hotel local to my venue and say they are attending a wedding at ashton court, they will get a reduce rate room... so yeah, go for it!

Our local ramada and another hotel close to our venues do weddings, so not sure they will discount rooms for a wedding at another venue...... so thats another lean in the preferred direction for premier, i wouldnt feel comfortable recommending a hotel i have never experienced.
Thanks ladies, will definately give it a go.

You don't have to tell them its for a wedding just say you have a group booking.

My friend did this for her wedding hun, they booked 10 rooms in a hotel and i think they gave them 10% off. If you dont ask you dont get. Whats the worse they can say? No. But at least u can say u tried.

What day is it you get married because usually most of them do discounted rooms for Friday and Sat as they can't usually fill the rooms then as business people are at home.

my great uncle got remarried in december and he had something similar at the local premier inn!! People rang up and asked for the person who was dealing with it and they sorted it (although my nan tried booking and eventually had to ask him cos couldnt get hold of guy haha) but it definitley worth asking!!! Ah krazykitty, thats brilliant (not the bit about your nan) but the fact that a premier inn did it for your family! That gives me more faith to be honest.
We will be getting married on the saturday, i expect a lot of the family will want to be over for a few days at least though and see it as a chance for everyone to be together, it doesnt happen very often.
