from like, ebay or online website and then had it altered once you've got it? I've been told people who buy dresses online often end up with disasters, but I'm planning on having a less common dress so finding one in the shops will be harder, whereas on the internet there are a few i like. Does it work out cheaper than a shop in the end?

the biggest risk is buying from china the quality isnt always top notch. Best thing to do is make sure you read the feed back really carefully.
i had mine made from someone on line as i wanted something different.
So far so good. i have had to send it back to be altered slighty but nothing major, thats not so easy to do if its all the way over in china.
have know a few people who have got thiers from there with mixed results

I intended to have a designer one made by an online one but my Grandparents ended up buying the dress for me.
Also think about pre loved dresses hun, if you need any info give me a shout.
But like AS said as long as you do the background work and make sure they are ok.
I would say I know of 2 from here so far that have had a bad experience with their dress but has been resolved in plenty of time before the big day, but yes it doesnt help.
Good luck (and welcome to the site)

thank you for the welcome and replies. I am planning on a red dress. If I have to settle for a red and white then so be it, but if you knew me you couldn't imagine anything different than a red dress. I'm planning on having red and black roses, so if the dress is red and black that's ok too, but I'd rather stay clear of the black on the dress to be honest. This is my second marriage, my first was a cheap, quiet do, when I was 31 weeks pregnant with my daughter, and I have just a white maternity dress. This time I want to do things MY way and wear what I want lol. Do you know if many shops have red dresses in them, I know they're becomming more fashionable, but I know exactly what I want it to look like!

My sister got her dress off ebay from a chinese company, she's my MOH, and we're both quite impressed. I have seen the dress I want, a designer style (which retails at over £1000!!), from another chinese company, so hopefully will be doing that! Can't find that style of dress anywhere else so thats really my only option, I think!
