I'd go for eton mess purely because we went to a formal b'day party where they had three courses, we were asked to chose in march and went for sticky toffee pudding which i love but on the day it was hot and i didnt enjoy it and didnt really want it I was eyeing up the cold deserts others had

I'd opt for eton mess too but love sticky toffee pud - yum yum! I know what you mean by the hot dessert in hot weather though nic... still - the ice cream with it will cool it down x

Ahhh it's tough. I agree, I want eton mess. Just worried some of my family won't eat it and would prefer the pud. I don't have to decide yet, getting two menus printed next week so can decide later. Thanks ladies!
Thats a good plan smarties - why dont you think they would eat eaton mess??

To be fair more like h2b's family. fil has problem eating some desserts because he has teeth issues, sil is lactose intolerant etc. Ah we'll see, i'll ask around.

I am definitely edging towards the Eton Mess and will ask if we have have stp for the alternative for the two I can think of. And if someone doesn't eat the dessert it's not that big a deal. They'll have had 2 courses and the evening buffet won't be far off! Have got both menus being printed so if i change my mind it doesn't matter.
Ugh!
Excitingly I have paid registrar fees today!

They are so cute Nicsquared!! They look so fiddly. You must have a lot of patien I've just posted my invitations - thought it was a bit early but so what?!? Gives people til the 1st July to rsvp. No excuses!
Still no suit for H2B, we might pop into Kingston-U-T this weekend to check some out.
I'm still undecided about favours, I saw someone post on here earlier about fortune cookies, I might look into that. We have bought a little bottle of bubbles for everyone as I think they look cute in photos but I feel like we need something else.
Another thing I'm still trying to sort out is a chest or box for the cards. Idon't really like the card ones I've seen around...
We are putting jars with pens on the tables and putting notes out asking people to write us notes on the back of their place names which I've just done on postcard size card. I'm hoping people will put these in the card box. Then I have a lovely photo album to put them in afterwards! I thought this would be a better idea than a guest book as people can take their time during dinner. Thats the hope anyway!! xx

We havent really decided re hiring or buying because h2b wants a matching 3 piece grey or pinstripe suit and they seem to be just as expensive to buy as hire. (pic of what he is after in my album!)
Plus there's only him, the best man and my dad wearing matching as we aren#'t having ushers so we would have to find one that we could both buy or hire as we cant expect the bm to buy if he doesn't want to/like the suit!! I mean we are paying but no point in buying him a suit he'd never wear again. x
CommentAuthorNicsquared
I am sure we could have found a suit cheaper to hire but we are having ivory waistcoats so would have been pointless to buy We got them in debs, worked out at £75 each which i dont think was too bad

Ooh I've had a busy day. Bought a basket and filled it with toiletries for the loos in the hotel. Bought hair spray, hair grips, plasters, paracetamol, wipes, mints, moisturiser, hand cream, clear nail varnish (for tights), nail files.
Also bought more sweets for the sweet buffet all done now.
Our stationery is going to the printers this week.
Nic they are so cute!
Love the bag Mrs Mann!
Cb, I'm doing something similar for our guest book. Printing cards that I will put on tables and once collected in will stick them in the guest book.

I posted the invites this morning and I have just found out from h2b that he has been emailing friends of his that have asked the insert for the invites. I emailed him the draft to his work account and the end result was done on the computer at home so he has been emailing everyone our work in progress. I know i'm a bit irrational but that has really upset me!! I feel like what's the point in working on the inserts and sending invites in the post when he has been sending everyone the inserts (the 1st draft inserts!!!!!!!!) He says he doesn't see the issue as everyone will get them in the post 2moro anyway but now his friends will get all the b&b details before family and my friends!!
oh well nothing can be done about it now, just a bit peeved. Ho hum! Anyway, has anyone seen any ivory wrist purses that are cute? I ordered a lovely one from an independent website and they said they are out of stock and cant get any more :-( xx

Sorry not been on ladies, seems like your all doing fab with your planning!
Finally got my wedding bouquet sorted plus the 2 bms flowers, fgs flowers and all coursages.. £237 for the lot. BARGAIN!
put poems in the invites (just awaiting the calligraphy to be done then getting them sent out). Not all that much to do now. So excited! Lost 12lb in 2 weeks which has made me a happy bunny!! Anyone know of where to look for evening invitation? Something nice but not overpriced? Really struggling with that one! Also wondering if you put a gift list in with the evening invites or not.. thought it was a bit cheeky myself lol xxx

A wrist purse/bag is just a little handbag that you just hang from your wrist rather than where over your shoulder or hold like a clutch bag. They usually have one strap long enough to wear around your wrist. I want one to put my lippie in! (and my fags.....ooops classy!)

Cb yep i'd deffo be annoyed!
Eeeek I have a wedding notebook that comes round with me everywhere which has so many lists in it. And so many versions of the same list! My list is quite similar to yours Mrs H.
• Write and post invites • Confirm vows and readings (and who is reading) with Registrar • Arrange hair trial/ arrange hair style and makeup style • By fg accessories • Buy bridesmaid's accessories • Buy thank you gifts (BM, MOB,MOG etc) • Confirm photography shots • Attend dress fittings • Book nails • Arrange cattery for the cat • Buy honeymoon clothes • Confirm flowers • Tag up favours • Paint letters • Make sweet trees • Decorate postbox • Get engagement ring cleaned • Make sugar buttons for the cake • Photo slideshow for projector screen
Eeek. Though 5 months is plenty of time to do all that to be fair! No worries!

Smarties where did you get that basket? How much was it?
CommentAuthorKate4
StoreTwentyOne. It was £3. They had 3 sizes and that's the smallest. Only bought it this week so should still be in stock.
Eeeek how exciting! I am desperate to send mine. I bought envelopes on Wed so when they arrived I'm tempted to write them soon as, before I've got the actual invites!
CommentAuthor*~Nicola~*
Smarties - Are you doing these for ladies and gents or just ladies?!
I've been looking on the Bay at minature perfumes/aftershaves and was going to put these in both loos but I like your idea of a survival kit basket with a bit of everything in.
15th Sept is getting closer and closer - it's frightening when I see how much other B2Bs have done...Eek!!
CommentAuthorKate4
Just ladies. Actually gents hadn't crossed my mind lol! I put some scissors and tweezers in too. I'd like to put perfume samples in but depends how cheap I can get them. The whole basket cost me £13 (inc the basket). Another idea that h2b rolled his eyes at!

In fact I dread to think what I'd be expected to put in the mens!
Sounds good Jill!
CommentAuthor*~Nicola~*
Thanks for that, definately something i'm going to do. Think the ladies will appreciate it more than the men anyway and i'll just stick with my original plan of some mini aftershaves for the men.
The seller i'm watching on the Bay sells a range of branded/well known minature perfumes mostly between £2.99 and £3.99 but that's for 5 minatures which i think works out reasonable.
