I went to that wedding on Friday. It was actually really good. So unique and personal. They had the best man's brass band playing arrival music and the school choir from where she works singing the entrance music, register music and exit music. Lovely! Then it was a picnic for the meal. Plates of bread, meat, salads etc. She did her own flowers, the bridesmaids (she had 10) all bought their own dresses in varying shades of nude/cream. Was a really good do. And their photographer is our one! So I said hi and had a chat to him.

Yeah also makes me feel more confident about our choice as if they've picked him too, they must have been impressed with his work.
I though going to another wedding would make me doubt my choices for ours, venue/menu/theme/flowers etc etc but it hasn't at all, it's just made me more excited for ours.
She sobbed down the aisle though. I cannot do that. I thought it'd be sweet, but it was a bit embarrassing. She was mortified afterwards!

i'm not one for sobbing down the aisle either, it is sweet but also kinda scary as it makes you think that they don't want to get married which is why they are crying in the first place

Ha one of the best men made a joke in his speech about how dreadful all these forced marriages are and how some brides are so upset at being forced into marriage they sob all the way down the aisle!
It was a bit cringe and you could sense the shock from everyone as they were willing her to stop! Eeek!
eeeeek i'm dreading our best mans speech as he's my brother hahaha i know he is going to make it all about me and talk about all the embarrasing things when we were growing up

We went to a wedding last year where the dads speech just went on and on about how much she loved food, shes not tiny but not huge either, im sure if she wasnt self conscious before she was after, it was so awkward. Her bro was best man too bat after that he let her off

we put little RSVP cards inside too with return address on all and stamps on some to encourage them to send them back so they have no excuse lol.
It's all so exciting. I think alot of people just asume that we know they will come x

We had about a 50-50 split of people returning the cards or emailing/texting, we got all of ours back two weeks before the deadline Not that bothered about the evening ones, only about 50% have replied

ours have until the 30th june but all our day ones have RSVP'd now after i sent a message on facebook to those outstanding.
Just evening ones but to be honest its not the end of the world. i think i'm gunna send out a few more rsvp's for the evening as i have the feeling a lot of people won't come and i don't want the food or buffet food to go to waste

No i'm not too bothered about evening ones. We're inviting about 160 (well 90 day plus 70 night) and catering for 120. Can guarantee at least 10 won't come so catering for 80% should be fine.
I'm starting to chase my friends for official confirmation they're coming now and will get our parents to chase the aunts and uncles and cousins.

with the deadline being at the end of the month i thought i better just send a reminder out and thankfully they are responded and they admitted that they had misplaced the invite which is why they hadn't sent it back. I see this person all the time when i pop to my mum's and she never mentioned it but never mind at least she has told me :-)

Why Nic? Everything's on schedule isn't it? Very jealous of cheese cake! yum!
That said, I feel a little panicky this week too.
I feel like there is something missing for our evening do. I have a dj and buffet and sweet buffet. I've been looking for other ideas but either cost too much or I don't fancy it (magicians terrify me!).
I'm now considering a different entrance song again!
I need flower girls shoes, socks and cardies but can't find any I like.
And for some reason i'm panicking about how much ribbon I need too (?!) I can get it easily from the craft shop in town in my colour but I can't work out how much I need and what for! I'm doing my own head in to be honest. But I can't relax til it's all sorted!

oh dear lol i only need to get flowergirl shoes but i'm leaving that until the weekend before so i get them in the right size. Thankfully i think i'm on top of everything, i took my new veil out of its packet with a hairdryer last night and its so beautiful i'm really pleased with it :-) so much nicer than my other one which was there was nothing wrong with i just think that the satin edging didn't go with my dress so now the silver edging looks so much better and it goes with the flowergirls cardigans as well :-)
I'm sure i'll find something to panic about probably the favour buckets that my OH has only done half of >:-| getting cross with him now he needs to get a move on i also have decided to get lilac tissue paper instead of purple as i''ve wrapped the boys favours in lilac with purple ribbon but the ladies will be dark purple so it will look really odd, good plan i think

Hi everyone, I've not been on in ages due to working everyday then wedding stuff most night now so don't get the chance to switch this site on, I'm beginning to wish we'd never bothered with this wedding. We invited 74 guests and when we went through our list for the venue the other night we only have 39 acceptances So disheartened. No1 from my Dad's side are attending and no1 from my H2B's mothers side either. Only 1 Aunt and Uncle from my Mam's side and there coming from Turkey. I've been feeling very down about the whole thing. Instead of getting excited about it all I'm just wishing it wasn't drawing nearer

Oh no, have they given reasons? Just remember that the people who are coming are making an effort and really want to share your day with you. you can have as much fun with 40 guests as 70, just will make it more intimate and personal :)

i'm sorry to hear that no-one wants to make the effort to come to your wedding but just think of it this way the ones who have excepted are the ones who care about you and H2B and therefore are the ones to make the effort with

I agree with the girls. It's not quantity it's quality. At the moment my family from south wales are traveling 200 miles to come to ours, but h2b aunt and uncle won't travel 2 miles.....
It is disappointing but sod 'em! You and h2b will enjoy it just as much. Keep positive :-)

My H2B says as long as I turn up at the church he really doesn't care, I know he's just saying that but I think on the day when everyone's actually sitting down for the meal we'll both feel it, how empty it'll look and that there's only going to be his father's side their. My Dad's family don't speak to him so not coming even though he's not attending either. My Mam's side all **** at each other so not coming. Not sure about his Mam's side it's all a bit strange. The parents generation just seem to be very awkward towards each other, I've never ever had an argument with my 3 brothers and I'm 38 we are very close where as my sil2b isn't even coming. It's the biggest nightmare of all time

Ah it is strange when people have long standing arguments that don't involve you but it still affects you.

i have a feeling that when i'm sat down at the reception that's when it will hit me and i will realise i'm married hahaha all the rest will be a blur.
Sod the lot of em Joci they aren't worth bothering about, if they can't be bothered to come to the biggest day of your life then forget them! honestly i wouldn't waste another minute on it, it doesn't matter how empty the place looks all the important people are there and the one's who want to be there!
