you liked the dress because you looked beautiful in it and thats all that matters. 20 people could stand infront of you wearing that dress and it will look completely different on all of them xxx

im not looking forward to going either, im about a size 18-20 depending on shops. i agree tho, i think when you find a dress that fits well and looks good, you will feel amazing. a size 12 is gonna look good in anything lol so dont be put off
go hunni you need to find the dress that makes you feel beautiful and that dress is out there waiting for you and you know when you wear it it is the one and no matter what size or shape you are its how you feel inside that gives you the confidence on the outside so if the one you had before felt perfect try it again you will look 100 times better than the other woman xx

I'm 18-20 and I looked amazing in my dress! OK I may be biased but being bigger doesn't make you any less beautiful! I saw a photo of a bride size 22 on ebay as she was selling her dress and she didn't look it at all! In fact she looked amazing. It doesn't matter if you are a size 10 or a size 30 its all about getting a dress that suits the shape of your body. Ask Mrshall2b if she still has the pics of the lady I'm talking about as I know she took a copy of them.

I'm a size 28-30, haven't bothered going trying on dresses yet. Have seen one on ebay which I know will suit my shape but am thinking about seeing a dressmaker over on the Wirral who has a lot of plus size dresses on her website and who has one dress similar to the one I like online. I think it might be a good idea to go trying a few on.
As others have said, we cant go comparing ourselves to "twiggys", otherwise nothing will suit...if you felt beautiful in that dress then I say go for it! x

im also at present a size 18-20, trying very hard to diet but struggling to get head round it at the moment, have found a dress I love on the web, and hope that I can find a Similar one in a bridal shop to see if that style suits me. gulp
CommentAuthorXLittleMissMe!X
I found it was better to ring around the shops to find out what size the sample dress was for the styles I wanted to try on. That way you get a better idea of what the dress looks like. You may have to travel a few more miles but it is worth it to try on one that is near to your size. There is no way I could get in a size 12 sample which a lot of the shops seem to stock for some unknown reason.

Im a size 20-22 and am looking forward to trying on dresses. I do hopefully wanna lose weight before we marry but if I dont then thats fine too. H2b loves me for me and thats all that matters

im a 20-22 and when i had some dresses on you could tell, but others were amazing..... although you maynot want to go and try dresses you should ring bridal shops and ask if they stock dress samples in that size, you might try a few and go back to the original, or find one that is better! Good luck

I am a size 18 to 20 and i absolutley loved trying dresses on, i went to 4 shops and when i rang for my appointments i pre warned them i was plus size....i had no issues with choice and had a minimum of 4 dresses in each shop that i could try on, to be honest id already researched what sort of dress i wanted and for me it was everything i expected. It didnt make me feel inferior, fat or ugly, every dress i tried made me feel great. Also if you google plus size bride there are specialist bridal stores which cater for brides over the size 16, there's on in milton keynes, derby and castleford that i know of and they have great testimonials and galleries of brides to look at for inspiration...for those of you who havent tried any on yet.....you definatley know when you try on the one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Happy shopping :O) x x x

im an 18 to 20 and i feel amazing in my dress defo dont think it matters what size u r u will find that dress. I had a fabulous experience in the shop im getting my dress from, the lady in the shop didnt make me feel uncomfortable about my weight but she said she will tell me if the dress looks hideous (which she did not quite using them words tho lol). she even picked out the dress that iv bought telling me to try it on as i hadnt even thought about it as i didnt think it would look nice on me. If there are any bit larger girls nr st helens area looking for dresses id defo recommend them as they really make u feel special no matter what size u r. x

I was a 20-22 when I started dress shopping but decided to try and find one a size 18-20 with the aim of losing that amount of weight. I found one easily for £80 on Bay of E which said 18-20 in the listing but I only needed to lose 2 belt notches to fit into it which I have done. I feel amazing in my dress and I have a friend who is also the same size as me but spread differently who looked amazing in her dress when she got married last year! I could never wear a dress like hers and she could never wear a dress like mine. The point I am trying to make is that it's not necessarily just about size, it's also about shape so think about how your dress will look with your shape as well as how it looks with your size. Any twig will look good in any dress but how would it be special?? I think it's more fun looking for the dress that would perfectly suit YOU because then it's not going to look standard. Am I making sense?? lol. x

I'm an 18, I think I am going to have a go at making my own dress... I know what suits me, and I have ages before I need to worry about buying one anyway, so I might as well pick up some fabric, do a few measurements and make up a pattern, and see how it goes! I have already decided I am not going to buy a 'brides' dress firstly because of unhelpful (are you loosing weight before) comments, and secondly because I want it to be something personal to treasure. If I can't make it, I will buy a formal gown and enhance it.

well i went and had a look at three shops and what can i say on a plus side the staff were FAB but on a down side all the dress were a size 10/12maybe had some a size 20 a lady made me laugh maybe pmsl even said to me go and see if a size 20 will fit for god sake im a size 28+ how the hell does she think it would fit, but god job i had my moh with me who is also my sister in law whos a size 10/12 cause the dresses i liked she tried on, they can be ordered up to a size 32 so thats fab, but i think i found a dress it had everything i wanted and it comes in budget which is always a good thing, still going to look round and take my mum to see the dress i have found see what she think of it, if i had the money i would open i bridal store for plus size girls stocking size 6 - 32 and have some of them sizes in the damm shop what do you all think

I am a plus size bride - my advice would be - get a corset back. I got a zip back and after not fitting into it i had to get the zip taken out and a corset back put in - the dress is so much better as you can pull pull pull :o)

At present I'm a 22 size and like some I was not ready to try on dresses until I had lost quite a few pounds, however a friend excitedly booked a dress session so there was no going back, but I do have to say I had the best time, the shop I visited had dresses up to 32 which was great so all the dresses I tried on were too big (if you can believe that) and after the 3rd dress I had found the one for me. I showed a few people and they were gobsmacked they said the dress was so flattering and I just looking fabulous in it, and I do have to say I felt beautiful. As Lorraine mentioned the dress I tried on was from Mori Lee and the Julietta range - they are so beautiful, well worth a try.

I rang around the shops when I found the dress I wanted to try on to see who stocked it in a bigger size. Depending on the make you can ring up the designer and they can tell you which shop stocks that dress in what size. You may have to travel further but it really helps you to see how the dress looks on you.

I'm a size 18-20 top and a 22-24 bottom (so out of proportion at the moment, i've lost weight on the top but its just not going on the bottom lol) I got my dress from a lady online (one who alot of the girls on here use) not arrived yet but i'm hoping :).
