Well we're about to put our deposit down on our venue on Friday, we're off to see a potential photographer tomorrow and I'm booked into a couple of dress shops in Edinburgh in the next few days so it all seems to have just kicked off all at once. So, yeah, we're a bit excited it all seems to be becoming real now!

Thanks girls will do! It does seem so much more real now! The photographers seem lovely and we *think* we will probably book them in the next few days. Honestly, their images are truly amazing! Bit nervous about tomorrow as I'm taking my mother and sister with me so worried either I won't find anything that suits or that they might get a bit too strenuous with their opinions

Have a fab time dress shopping mrs.trouble - just remember at the end of day if you feel gorgeous in it and are happy, it doesn't matter what anybody else says or thinks (also the sales assistants should be able to help you with styles that will suit you). I'm not going to start looking until later this year as have quite a lot going on over next few months, but I have been looking online. Also we only put our deposit down last week, so I completely know what you mean about it feeling real now.

Kayleigh that sounds so much like what happened to me. We had been in the shop 2 hours and were just leaving when one caught my mum's eye on the rail, and that was that :) We are getting married in a Church in Hanham. Then the reception will be at a hotel in Bath x

Haha I feel exactly the same but I think it's best to get things booked then you aren't running around at the last minute and worrying in case you can't get what you want!
So far I have booked my venue (booked Oct last year) and registry office, DJ, photographer, ordered my flowers, bought my shoes and each month I order little bits and pieces for venue decoration and other little inexpensive things, that way it spreads the cost a bit more. In the next few months I am going to try and get my cars booked and cake ordered. I have pretty much everything planned out but as I am saving each month I am just getting things between now and the end of the year, trying to be pretty much finished before next year so I can relax before the wedding, not sure if that will happen though haha! x

WOW your so organised, that's exactly how i want to be ha! I dont want to feel like I am rushing decisions and that I am enjoying it as well which i thinks important. I think it is a really good idea getting little bits each month thats exactly what i was going to do. I am hoping to sort the venue and church this weekend when i go to Ireland and were also going to a wedding fair so hopefully will get some good contacts for flowers, djs etc. I am very lucky that my friend is making my cake and dont need cars as the venue it a 2min walk from the church :)
CommentAuthorMrsEmmaP
Haha I've been engaged since last Christmas so I've had a while to think of it all, waited 10 months to book the venue so I was so excited to start booking things! It makes you feel like you are doing something all the time even if you are only spending as little as £5 and if there's months when you can't afford to get the bigger things you are still doing something :)
I got a lot of my contacts from FB so I suggest trying there too, but fingers crossed you have some luck at the wedding fair! Will you not need a car to get you from where you are getting read to the church? x

That's great! yeah a few days but still makes a difference lol!
So far venue and band but meeting with a photographer this week ive worked with her before as I have done a boudoir shoot with her and we also had a photographer at our engagement party which was on the 31st January, so once I have the pics from them this week, we may well just go with them for the wedding too!
I think I know who I want for our cake, as again our engagement cake was lovely and she specialises in wedding cakes!
How is your planning going?
Xx

That's good at least you already have a possibility for the photographer and you've had photos done with them before so you know what their work is like :) we didn't have an engagement party so had nobody in mind when we started planning lol.
It's going quite well, I'm buying things like crazy at the moment haha. I have booked my venue, registry office, photographer, DJ, ordered my flowers, bought my shoes and I am waiting for my bridesmaid dresses to be delivered this week. I am also buying little things each month like things to decorate the venue, favours, centrepieces etc so that I can spread the cost out rather than pay for everything at once :)
The next big things for me is to find a car and somebody to make my cake. Then I am going to start dress shopping in May/June :) xx

You are doing exactly what I plan too! I am already looking at what to buy for favours and centre pieces as I want to buy things each month so it doesn't all add up at the last min and will keep me occupied in the run up to the rest of the planning!
I am so looking forward to dress shopping but not sure when to start my bridesmaids are all wanting to go soon but so am I!
I have my colour scheme picked and they are all loving my dress suggestions for them X

It makes it so much easier and doesn't make the overall cost look to scary haha! I have bought organza bags for the favours and decided that I am going to put heart chocolates in but obviously I can't buy them yet as they will go out of date. It definitely keeps you occupied even if you aren't booking big things each month, plus I tend to forget things that I've ordered online so it's exciting when they arrive lol!
I have had a look at some dresses but I want to lose a few pounds before I get a dress which is why I am giving myself until May, then I have a year to find one and get any alterations done :)
Thankfully my bridesmaids all loved the first dress I fell in love with, it shocked me because I thought at least one wouldn't like it but I was so happy lol. I thought it may be too soon to buy them but none of them are going to lose or gain much weight between now and the wedding so I just went for it. I have my flower girl dress too, my flower girl will be 3 and a half at the wedding and I have bought the dress in a 4-5 so it should still fit by then :) x

That's a great thought all the ordering and things arriving! lol my fiancé quiet likes the little sweet jars so I was thinking of ordering them and then same as you order the sweets nearer the time. We are also considering making our own invites as im lucky my sister is very arty so she's up for helping and is very creative! Really do like the personal touch for the big day!
I am the same with wedding dress shopping I am going to wait a few months as I have a stone to shift to be back to my ideal weight so I think I want to have that off before I start trying on.
If I find my bridesmaid dresses I think ill also just order them too, how strange my flower girl will be 3 and half at our wedding I've already seen some dresses id like for her.
My fiancé will be wearing a kilt to our wedding and we have discovered his granddad had a kilt, so were going to get that and have it sized to his and get new buckles etc but we feel its such a nice thing and so sentimental!

We are making our own invites too, I have designed them on word and bought some plain white A5 card to print them on to, can't wait to start making them :) we are doing a sweet table and have bought all of the jars, scoops and sweet bags for £20. Eb@y is amazing for things like that, or like Flossie said if you know anybody with a baby you could keep the jars from the food.
The good thing is there is still plenty of time so if you haven't lost the weight by the time you want to, you still have a while to lose it :)
Lots of family members have been telling me they have certain things I am looking for, it's great when that happens! Saves money and there is sentiment to it :) xx

Yeah I think ill be addicted to eBay! I've already seen loads we would like!
We had a small sweetie buffet at our engagement party and it was a real hit! I think ill do it again for the wedding, we got 100 bags for it from eBay for under £2, the jars were donated from my friend who got married in December!
I've got ideas of the type of invites I would like so I am going to start buying bits and pieces for them.
Yeah I am so glad I have time to get into the gym and tone up a bit too this last year I have put on a stone and not been to the gym but will get there!
I love that he can wear his granddads kilt to the wedding it means so much as hes no longer with us xx

Hi Sarah, if I'm honest I wasn't bothered about a cake as they all seemed so expensive but I went to a wedding fayre at my venue and saw one which me, my mom and mil all said "ooooo that's pretty" ever since have had my heart set on it. I'm going to the big one at nec in Birmingham with h2h be. Went to it when we first got engaged which was back in 2010 with about 6/8 people so was abit crazy, glad to be going with h2b only this time as I won't have to split myself in 2.... How are your plans going? Xx
CommentAuthorSarah D
Cakes are so expensive but the look good! I've seen a few ideas I like so will discuss with h2b and make a decision on it but we have plenty time that's the main thing!
I've been to a few wedding fares now and we went to one at our venue together so that's when we decided that's where we were getting married, this show in Glasgow I am going with my MOH and my bridesmaids, there are 4 of us in total so not to many!
We have our venue and band booked, meeting with a photographer this week but have worked with her before, on the look out for a videographer aswell. So far so good its all happening smoothly, made the decision to make our own flowers now also, so that's something im going to be looking into to get practice in.
