Yea ours was a big deposit which is nice as thats a lot we dont have to save now! We have to do menu tasting etc 6 months before. They are also going to post all our invites so we need to get them done by that point which is november! X

Hi girls hope you are all well, now xmas is out of the way I'm hoping to get started with the planning again. First thing on the list is to find a venue, really stuck about what to do as we're having immediate family only through the day (only 20 of us) and then about 140 in the evening but nowhere seems to want to cater for just a small lunch party and on the other hand I'm having problems getting booked up for just an evening as all of the nice places want you to have both the wedding breakfast and reception there but have minimum numbers of 50 through the day!!

NEDebz sounds like your having a bit of a nightmare! have you though about somewhere where you can rent one room for the day and then maybe an adjoining one for the evening. a friend of ours hired out a small room in a stately home for her day and then the adjoining bar/ dancefloor area for the evening as she had i think about 30 for the day and about 100 for the evening. i have about 50 for day and 120 for evening i know even that is hard.

Unfortunately none of the venues in my area that would be suitable for that are i my price range. I have thought about just booking a table in a local hotel for a meal for the lunchtime and then booking a reception room in a pub for the evening and saying its a party rather than a wedding but dont want to risk causing any issues on the day

NEDebz, is there any chance of having your intimate family wedding breakfast at a nice hotel or restaurant and hire a marquee or pretty hotel function room for the evening? A friend of mine had a lovely wedding breakfast for their family in a restaurant and an evening do in a nearby hotel? Xx

NEDebz we are having the Marsden Grotto - only fits max 42 i think in main part upstairs but then on the evening having the whole pub - they may cater for you? Not many options in Shields... you can hire chinese buffet in King Street for wedding breakfast :)

I'm glad i'm not the only one that feels like 2014 is ages away. I am a 2014 bride :) it seems like forever away though. Planning is underway! I get married to the h2b on 9th August 2014 on that day we will have been together 5 years that day :).

I only phoned them to ask when would be the best time to book for a 2014 wedding & the lady said we could pay our deposit there & then, I told her the date & time we wanted & she said they only had 2 slots left! So I would definitely give them a ring & see xx

KellyN THanks for the tip - I'll give them a call and see what they're prices are like. I hadn't given them a thought as I didn't think you would be able to have the whole pub especially on a Saturday!! Its nice to see somebody else from Shields but you're right there is hardly anywhere to hold your venue not unless you want to spend a fortune at the little haven, only other places I could think of were the Sea H, The Mile, Hedworth Hall and The Dunes, none of them take my fancy!!
Nicola I'm from the North East and am going to the fair at the arena at the end of the month, not sure if there are anymore in in the area this month. Theres free one on at the Sage in March and if you prebook you get a free goody bag worth about £15

We don't have a colour theme as such, we had decided on teal & silver, then we went to pick a cake we wanted & saw a topsy turvy one that we loved & I said it reminded me of the mad hatter so we decided the mad hatters party would be our theme, with all different bright colours :) Do you & your H2B have favourite colours that you could put together? xx

That would be awesome Siany! I've seen a madhatters theme done before (possibly on Dont tell the bride!) and it looked amazing!
He's got temporary work at the mo for 3 months but they might extend it to 6 months. Fingers crossed.. that's the problem he has - theres loads of jobs around but they all want you to prove you have the paper that says you can do it. He's amazing with computers, fixing his friends and stuff but doesnt have the qualification so can't get the jobs.. nightmare! xx

Ah fingers crossed for that then! Yep that's the same as my H2B, he can do lots of things but doesn't have the proper qualifications! He said he's always wanted to do welding so he's applied for that at college as there's tons of welding jobs where we live! The course is free too as he's on benefits at the moment, which is awesome as I thought he'd have to pay! xx

My theme is vintage at the min, but gonna check out the wedding fayres and how they'll be setting things up for 2014, as things are set to change soon, so may like it another way, all table decorations n that are included in my venue so we don't have to have a definite decision til about 4months before...I'll know for defo when I find my dress and bridesmaid dresses what feel we will be going for x

I'm having a peacock theme, mainly shades of teal with a hit of hot pink. NEDebz fingers crossed for you, I think they might be quiet on a night due to being far out from town, they seem quite flexible too

Woo it feels so surreal lol Got our save the dates on tuesday (pic in album) I totally love them & so cannot wait to send them! (not until aprox march) My h2b is finally helping out with the planning side of things, I thought he wouldn't until a few months before but he said if he gets as much done as possible he wont have to worry about it later he can just concerntrate on paying what needs to be paid & sort stag night out with his guys. so its helped ease the presure off me a little, he spent all late afternoon (wen he finished work) until midnight writing up a rough table plan draft, deciding on suits for relivant people and deciding on transport etc so all in all a very happy B2b :D x

We had originally booked for 14/6/14 but had to move it to 1/11/14. Need to get used to it saying 21 months to go instead of 16 now! lol Suppose it gives us more time to save and because its a winter date we save a lot on our venue :) So far we have venue where the ceremony and reception will be held, Pianist, Videographer and venue decor sorted (well only if they can change our date :{ ) Decided to make the invites and silk bouquets so that should take up a lot of my time!

Due to Mil being so unwell with being diagnosed with leukaemia and now having blood poisioning on top of that, my H2b wants to be there for his dad an mum an help financially (siblings are doing the same also) After a long discussion we have decided to put our wedding back to 2015 but as my H2b wanted to keep the same date but on a saturday we realised our new date will be Valentines day :-) Just waiting to hear from venue to be sure that they can book us in for that date and also transfer any money we have so far paid to the new date (which luckily isnt alot) so despite having planned so much already we're just gonna pay off little bits at a time so as less to pay further down the line xx

Velcro, just seen the button holes love them :) we are hoping to have a white rose with the peacock feather for H2B as he is a Yorkshire man at heart. Claire hope everything goes well for MIL, and for the new date. Hows everyone doing with the wedding plans?, we've been looking at car hire, so expensive! H2B really wants the fancy car but I'm really not that fussed so the prices seam even more unreasonable to me
