We haven't found a venue yet... we're going to look at The White Heather and Hemswell court on Sunday! Also gonna check out the Lawn etc at the wedding fayre afterwards. What we really want is to find a nice hall / barn / ballroom that we can take over and bring in our own suppliers.... but not had much joy finding anywhere suitable for our 160 guests :( Good to know lots of people from The Shire on here though...always handy with recommending suppliers!

i have 2 friends getting married at the white heather this year, it looks lovely on the website. there is the grandstand on carholme road. im not sure if would be suitable for you but it has a bar and they let u do everything your self decor ect. its also near the bypass so not difficult for directions. but that would only be a reception venue, my mum had her wedding party there when she got married back in the 80's lol x

The Lincolnshire Oak has a wedding farye on on Sunday 11am start.
I love Hemswell court I played there at a wedding with my old Jazz band
CommentAuthorcaz
chanters what wedding fair are you going 2?
CommentAuthorUKBride (Boss Man)
There are load of Lincolnshire members (Around 1200 at the mo!)
ooo thanks will take a look at that. It's hard finding a balance between what I want, what H2B wants.... and what my mum has in her head!! Never easy! I really like the look of Hemswell Court, but H2B is against hotels in principal, so I just hope it wows us on Sunday!
CommentAuthorcaz
loopy_lou im going to go there. as was going to one at jocastas in feb. but it got cancelled due 2 the snow. jocastas do weddings aswell, and have a website
CommentAuthorChanters79
Going to the one in the bail, starts at 11am, and I think a few of the hotels are hosting it, looks quite good
CommentAuthorcaz
ah thats good to know i thought i was the only one J lmao. be good 4 tips as 2 where 2 go avoid ect, as im a bit clueless x
CommentAuthorloopy_lou
What about Branston Hall.
CommentAuthorcaz
chanters i had no idea about it lol and im getting married in the bail!!!! at the lincoln hotel its oposit the cathedral if ur up there pop and see. im going to go 2 this now on sunday is there a website for it? x
CommentAuthorcaz
branston hall dont let u decorate as far as i know its quite traditional, h2b was bestman at a wedding there last year its very expensive as well. but it was lovely and its beautiful for photos x
CommentAuthorcaz
oh also u cant get a mobile phone signal at branston hall for some reason lol
CommentAuthorChanters79
Well Caz.... I don't know that much about lincoln anymore coz I haven't lived there for 14 years now (god that makes me feel old!), but I do know how to organise events and get a good deal, so I'll let you know any findings! Although I'm guessing you and Loopy Lou are much further ahead with planning than I am, 13 months seems so far away!!
CommentAuthorcaz
thankz huni im going to pop 2 that. i know what u mean. the lincoln is doing there colour scheme to my choice and also i am doing all table decorations ect and having tables outside that i can decorate as its september. so thats nice as it gives me back some control as the pride of lincoln for example, u have 2 have there decorations and even pay for things like napkins 20p per person.
CommentAuthorcaz
thankz hun. lol no i doubt it we booked our wedding at the end of jan i only have a venue and little things sorted dont even have a dress yet!!! eeek lol. going dress shopping on fri x
CommentAuthorChanters79
hmmm, yeah the 20p napkins and their own decorations is exactly the sort of frustrating stipulations I want to avoid!! I'm going wedding dress shopping on Saturday, very exciting! x
CommentAuthorloopy_lou
Caz I agree having some where that lets you decide wht you want is better lets face it it's the biggest day of our lives why shouldn't we have what we want if were paying for it.
I had a look round the Golf Hotel in Woodhall Spa very nice now it has all been done up they evebn have round beds in the honeymoon suite but they wanted extra for nearly everything.
CommentAuthorloopy_lou
I have only just got my dress, & the venues sorted. Im way behind!
CommentAuthorChanters79
Well, we're looking at the Petwood in Woodhall Spa... but I'm not sure I'll like it. Also looking at a place called Abbey Farm, where we could put up our own marquee....but I'm just not sure if that might be a bit too risky in April!
CommentAuthorloopy_lou
I was at a wedding at the Petwood in October not as nice as I expected. lovley grounds for photos but there was just something about it that put me off it.
CommentAuthorwendy woo
my sister had the petwood it was amazing, everything was perfect
CommentAuthorcaz
thats why im so excited as its an amazing venue up at the cathedra but there letting me have what i want really. and you dont pay 4 napkins ect lol.. god i was worried as people say you should sort ur dress asap and i havent had a chance 2 yet. x

ive heard Image are quite good from a few people. im going to check out celebrations thanks! thats really good that u will have it for may :) hi angel and courtyard :)
CommentAuthorcaz
courtyard we wasnt going to have the evening buffet as it is a bit expensive but my mum and dad gave us £1000 to pay for the evening buffet bless then so the venue and everything except suits and the dress has cost us 2000 as we got a sat wedding with friday prices as they mixed up our day and gave it to someone else lol x
CommentAuthorLindsey Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ
Wow, thats really good, sves some pennies. We having a friday wedding..another reason we not getti married in lincoln is the family...otherwise they would all have to travel.Went for a walk up to the cathedral last night (other half into photography) and was admiring the lincoln hotel :). Beautiful building. We said if we got married there we would use the cathedral for photographs. :)
