I am just starting to plan my wedding and am finding it very hard to say to everyone what I want for my big day. I am a student and am having the wedding in my hometown over 2 hours away so am having to wait until I return home to speak to the Vicar to really get the ball rolling. Does anyone have any advice to help me get my image of my wedding day seen by everyone else without seeming rude or selfish? Please help I don't want to be a bridezilla! Also any good healthy eating plans / diets that you are finding successful would be greatly appreciated! I feel like my head is going to explode with it all!!

Firstly the vicar may not talk to much about it till closer to time, but you can pencil the date in with him. I would start looking at venues, and just tell ppl what you want, be selfish its your day, have it how you want it! Im travelling away from home about 1-1.5 hrs much to my mums disapointment, also having it on a weekday and she works in a school... another disapointment, my large family wont be there, again disapointed! So i did say i would have a party on a sat for everyone and have that at home, well a function room at home!

hello and welcome :) congrats on the start of planning your wedding, the first big thing i would say is if you havent already start shopping for wedding dresses :) its very exciting. Secondly try to obviously get things booked such as photographer, wedding transport, dj, florist, venue etc you dont have to give them final choices but maybe pay a deposit to secure them for the day xx hope all goes well xx

Is now happily married to my gorgeous man

Griff go to your local stationary shop and buy a small note book, write everything down you need to do by a sertian date ie venue dress church and once you have them done cross them off. It is also helpful if you see anything you like in town or wherever that fits your wedding and cant buy it then write down the product code shop and price and what it is and go back when you do have the money. Trust me it helps so much. Buy one that A5 so it fits in your hand bag so you can take it anywhere you like then. congrats and welcome you will find this site very helpful

    Congrats on your forthcoming wedding!

The venue really sets the date for everything else so you can't do much until you have that sorted. You need to create a budget and stick to it. I used an excel spreadsheet to work out roughly what everything would cost and then had a column for the actual costs and deposits paid, what is left to pay etc. It really helps you to work out where you can spend your money and where you need to start saving. It helps you no end to work out where all your money has gone! Work out what is the most important to you and try and get them booked asap as you will have more choice over prices and services. Dates can get booked up two years in advance! That doesn't mean that you have to panic as there are plenty of places to shop.

Don't worry about telling everyone what you want at this stage. Tell them you are looking around for inspiration. Its a big investment for both of you so take your time and don't rush it. Get ideas from here, the internet, mags etc to work out what you would like and if it fits into your budget. Even if other people are kind enough to pay for your wedding it doesn't give them the right to dictate to you what you should have. You don't have to turn into Brideziller to get your message across. As long as you are polite and explain the reasons to them they should be fine with you. Above all enjoy it and make sure the day goes how you and your H2B want it as its YOURS and your H2B's wedding!

    congrats and welcome

i would say start by making a a draft of your guest list so u have an idea of how many people u will be inviting that way u will know what size venue u will be looking for then take it from there xxx

I have a guest list sorted thankfully have checked to make sure I haven't missed anyone important. We know which Church we want as its in my home parish and are thinking possibly a marque reception? Has anyone had any experience dealing with marques? Thanks so much everyone you've made me feel really calm and welcome! xx
