Anyone got any ideas for alternatives to table numbers for the wedding?I feel like table numbers can sometimes depict abit of a hierarchy???
Thanks :) xxx
CommentAuthorJulieD71
I'm going to avoid numbers for the same reason. We're thinking about doing places we've visited, or places that mean something to us.
I went to a wedding that had sweets as the table names and in the middle of the table was that sweet.

Table names instead of numbers. Names of places, songs, films etc x

I think there are lots of alternatives to numbers. In fact, I can't remember the last time I went to a wedding where they had table numbers. Like JulieD71 says, there are places, or you could do films or characters from a favourite film, or flowers, or songs from a favourite band or artist.
We are having different Betty Boop pictures with a playing card number as I am obsessed with Betty Boop and H2b plays a fair amount of Poker, but you could do pictures that are linked to your theme if you have one and not worry about numbers that way?

We're having the names of formula 1 racing tracks. Doesn't fit with the butterfly and simple chic theme, but it makes h2b feel like he's got a say on something important

we had tables names after hotels in las Vegas for our uk ceremony ( as our legal wedding was in the dessert just out side Vegas )
We had 12 tables and used the 12 Chinese zodiac signs which tied in with our fusion wedding perfectly as all decor, colour scheme and canapés were Chinese but the wedding itself was very traditional English.
My sister and BIL had movie titles from the 2 years they were born.

We're having table names after the places that Zebras inhabit (we have a zebra theme). Had a bit of fun with it... Have a 'watering hole' table for the drinkers, and a 'scrublands' table for, well....

We're having dates that are important to us with its significance stated on the back for table names rather than table numbers. xxx
CommentAuthorElinor Claire
We've got a music theme so each table will be named after a performer or composer. Then the centre pieces will be linked to the person that the table is named after.

We got married in a hotel which used to be owned by Prince Albert and Queen Victoria. We had nine tables so named them after the children as they had nine children.

My H2B and I met in the pub watching England play in the euros last year, so are thinking of naming the tables after players in the team the night we met!
CommentAuthorMrsRhodes2b
I'm a literature graduate so we're going for romantic books, I'm actually using books as the table names, the old style penguin classics fit with my wedding colour perfectly and they're that little bit different. So at the moment we have Pride & Prejudice, Jane Eyre, Wuthering Heights and Breakfast at Tiffany's.
CommentAuthorValentinaK
Totally agree about people thinking they're higher/lower up/down ...
We're naming our tables after RAF bomber/maritime patrol aircraft.
My granddad who was my inspiration to join the RAF (which is how I met my H2B!) was a Navigator Officer in Bomber Command in WWII flying the dakota and lancaster... my H2B is a former Nimrod pilot and now flies another multi engined aircraft in the RAF... and the place we're having our reception is called Blenheim house... and their is an old bomber aircraft called a Blenheim! Plus we're both based at RAF Waddington which is a large multi engined aircraft base! As we're both at the pointy end of stuff (air traffic and air crew) we thought it would be nice to acknowledge our heritage so to speak!
Perfect!
Used orthographic images to enhance the table name cards as a talking point too!
And we lived happily ever after!

We're doing hotels we've stayed at; we're lucky as they have nice names like the Excellence, Royal, and Valentin.
We wanted something which meant something to us, and as we love to travel, my mum came up with this suggestion, and we both really like it :-)

My friend recently got married and her tables were fantastic! she had kept the numbers but added photos in to it. All her tables said look at us when we were 1, 2, 3 and so on with photos of both of them at that age it was brill and got everyone looking around and going to different tables just to see what they were like as children x
CommentAuthorFionaR41
hi. we are having the names of the areas on a filey camp site where h2b works and where we met as I have a caravan there. the top table is going to be the willows - where its situated, the grandchildren are going to be sat at "the playground". There are just enough different areas for the other tables
Who says we have to have numbers? I'd put it down to the olden days when there was no imagination and numbers probably the only thing that could be thought of .
Heybert - thats a brilliant idea and so unique.
It's taken a while to find my Prince

I didn't think about the whole number thing, but good point. And wow you ladies have some amazing ideas for your tables. Makes me feel like me and h2b are boring ppl lol. I'd go for names that mean something to you or your theme. We are having navy blue but I haven't a clue what we will have as table names :( so in same boat as you x

We have decided to go for casinos we visited in Las Vegas which is where we got engaged last year. We have had the Casino name and a little sentence about each place so they act as a bit of a talking point as well. I really like MrsA-J idea that's really personal xx
CommentAuthorAmieW16
We have decided on the theme of 'Mad Hatters Tea Party' And so, instead of table numbers, we are going to have different Alice In Wonderland characters as the table names and decorate the tables accordingly. E.g The March Hare - Table decorated with a giant teacup vase filled with different coloured flowers and feathers and other sparkly bits :)
CommentAuthorMattsBride
We're having map names from call of duty modern warfare 3 for our table names.

We are having marine fish names. my partner loves marine fish

We're just having numbers but on the back of the card will be a different poem/quote. I've found some really lovely, nice and short quotes, that will be nice to dot around the room. I'm not keen on readings as it means standing up there with everyone staring at me for even longer but I love these quotes we've found xx
