I found my dress yesterday :D. I want to tone up my arms. And to fit into the size i tried on, i need to lose at least an inch (more if possible). But if i don't lose tht inch i need to order a bigger size and that would mean major alterations to take the dress in. Resulting in a bigger price tag. If anyone knows any diets or exercises that would help me to lose enough to drop a complete dress size that would be even better. If not. Losing that inch and toning my arms up would help. Thanks x

I bought Davina's newest dvd - its brilliant. I set my alarm an hour earlier than I normally would to make myself get up and do it. You can just do it to target area's you want. I've all been doing alot of just dance 1,2 and 3 on the wii. Which you wouldn't think but its really good for your arms aswell and its fun xx

I've got almost the same problem but as the wedding is so close I've already got the dress and having to try and get back in it! (long story)
I'm just starting a low carb diet, no pasta, bread or potatoes to see if that will help at all. Plus I do Tae bo twice a week which is starting to tone up my arms and stomach after 3 weeks!

    Good luck hun xx

My worst problem was boredom and finding the time. So I make sure I do something different everyday. I either do wii, davina, my cross trainer or go a walk. My exercise is always the first thing I do when I get home from work because if I sit down I won't move again. The only day I don't do something is a sunday so I just do my sit ups, press ups, squats and lunges (which I also do daily) One of my bridesmaids is my exercise buddy so we have fun whilst were doing it and its not a chore :-) xxx

The best thing is change your diet to largely protein based foods. If you eat carbs do it in the morning (starchy carbs anyway-fruit and veg is fine). Potatoes, bread, pasta and in a smaller quantanity rice are just sugar. This is great is you're an athlete but most of us aren't so the extra sugar that doesn't get burned just turns into a "glue like substance". For most of us ladies this sticks to the stomach, hips, waist, thighs and arms. It doesn't sound the most fun diet but I lost 14inches in 2 weeks all over (including arms) and it does get easier. I still eat the same dishes just with the carb missing such as chilli or chicken and veg xx

    Wow Loopster, you do loads!

I'm hoping that mine's enough, I do walk every day for at least 30 minutes (even sunday) but will have to do tae bo at least another day each week soon. The problem is that it's hard for me to do as some of the moves hurt my already painful Hips (so I usually just do half the amount of these exercises). Plus, finding the time when no-one else is using the television is becoming a problem, although the kids are easier to get to join in than H2B is to get off his xbox! lol x

I started bootcamp end October, which is 45 minutes 3 times a week (4 weeks on, then a week off before the next cycle) - when I re-measured myself end Jan this year (3 months later) I'd lost 2.5 inches off my waist, 2.5 off my hips, 2 off my bust and just under an inch from my upper arm and also my upper thigh. I also did a month of vibrocise which is vibration technology too.

Just last night I started powerplate, which is similar to vibrocise but I find it a lot more comfortable, and they said a reporter from the local paper did it a few months ago and after 10 sessions in one month she lost a stone and a whole dress size (with sensible eating and a weekly 30 minute run).

I also bought a discount voucher yesterday for 10 zumba classes - haven't gone to one yet - as you can see, the next 3 months will all be about making sure I get into my dress without any overhang on the shoulderblades! When I ordered my dress, as my bust is one size smaller than my waist at the time, the dress was ordered in my bust size meaning I have to lose 3 inches off my waist minimum to get into it - here's hoping the zip goes up!!

There are lots of little things I have been trying to do as i have no time to get to a gym and even dvds are a mission - joy of 3 kids and living nowhere near family!

We have a little set of weights and I do 5 mins here and there a few times a day (really to help tone up my arms and back). Before we had the weights i used tins of beans.
I live in a town house so 2 flights of stairs - every hour im at home i do at least 2 runs up and down, also a few times a day I do them up and down sidewards (try it honestly it uses all different muscles)

Working on a 3 dream plan for the next 5 years!
    Dream 1 = My gorgeous Mr P proposed - 4/9/11 Sydney Harbour
Dream 2 = Getting Married Easter 2012 by Bonnie Loch Lomond
Dream 3 = Working on that dream life in Australia

i lost a inch in a week its not too hard if ur in the right mind i find thats the first thing u have to b in the mind set otherwise u end up slacking well i do... i only drink water n swapped chocolate for fruit n i do 4/5 hrs a week of zumba tums n bums n step body but even doing 4/5 hrs a week on a dvd will help u out so much n inches come of quicker then weight as ur turning fat into muscle and that weighs more.... but 6 weeks and iv lost a stone which im very pleased with n my dinners arent always healthy n weekend i have a few drinks. its just cutting portion sizes dwn too n i cut carbs down n eat dnt eat after 5 most nights odd couple bit harder when zumba is at 5.30. sorry going on.. boring aint i lol. just hope what i do can help u xxx

Inches are definately better than weight! Last time I tried to lose weight I kept weighing myself and got a bit depressed with the whole thing, so this time round I've measured everywhere instead and launched the scales!

hi kaz, my typical diet is porridge with a sprinkling of seeds and fresh fruit for breakfast, lunch is homemade soup (yesterday was bean and vegetable for example), chicken salad or a tin of tuna with 2 ryvita and vegetable sicks, tea is usually meat or fish with vegetables. This includes tonights tea which is turkey stir fry and last night was mixed sea food with a pepper and tomato sauce. you could also have meatballs and tomato sauce as another tea. You need to be disciplined but when you hit your targets you can relax a little and have the odd treat. another thing is to cut out wine, beer and cider. if you are going to drink then have spirits as the others are just pure sugar. My friend is a nutritionist and personal trainer so she overlooks my whole diet to make sure I'm not missing anything (for example the seeds are high calorie and fat but they are essential fats that your body needs). Give me a shout if you need anything else x

zumba definately, it gives you an all over body workout, and if you do the sculpt and tone one with the toning sticks its brilliant for your arms. Also good for toning the arms and chest - wide arms press ups, start on your knees if you cant do them. Squats are a must for toning up the legs and bum. Also natalie cassidy's Now & Then dvd is amazing, such a good workout! i think it is a lot better than Davina's x

I have an amazing diet, i wont lie really difficult and strict but if you follow it you loose amazing amount of weight and you wont just put straight back on as it mean to detox and speed up your metabolism. Im on a day 2 :) so wish me luck... last time i have done it i have lost 10cm on my waist !!!! :)
