Anyone getting married in or near Bedford? I'm getting married next August in Bedford (hopefully - can't decide on a venue!)

I'm getting married in Essex, so I'm not that much help, but I used to live in Bedford (and should be moving back there soon- yay!) so I've seen the odd place.
What's your capacity? There's the Barn Hotel just off the A603 in Bedford. I looked at them, but their capacity was too small for the masses of people my parents want to invite. I've heard that people can get married at Woburn Abbey- that might be worth checking out too.
Its a shame that outdoor weddings aren't legal because a ceremony on the Embankment would be gorgeous (especially in that big gazebo).

Ooh yay for coming back! We've just moved here from near Cambridge! Ahh that's exactly what I was thinking.. I want somewhere with a nice outsidey bit because it'll be summer and nobody wants to be cooped up all day! I'm seriously considering the Swan Hotel because the embankment is gorgeous or the Barns - we're having about 70 people in total so not too massive! Woburn Abbey sent me their brochure the other day but I haven't had a chance to look properly - looks amazing though!!

Oooh, I totally forgot about the Swan! That would be a lovely place to have it- especially with it being right across from the Embankment. 70 should fit in the Barn. I think their capacity was 90 for a sit down dinner, if my memory serves.
I used to go to uni in Bedford and I love the town. Hence why h2b and I are moving back- we managed to get a place near the town centre- huzzah! The good area, not the bit behind the station, lol.

at least the barns has a lot of outside space which is definitely a plus - not sure where else i could go where i could have a marquee. i'll need to look around a bit more i think!
I am originally from Bedfordshire and Woburn Abbey is stunning. I can imagine it will cost a bit as well so depends on the budget you have but will definatly look stunning in the photos (and make you feel like a princess for the day) x

It's a bit further north, so it probably isn't as dear as some other more southern venues.

i would be interested to know of who you choose for your flowers and photography, i have a few meeting lined up but like to go on recomendations for things like this xx

Congrats Kev's Angel- I used to drive past the Barn Hotel on my way back to uni. It's so beautiful! Like I mentioned before, if it weren't for the need for a large reception hall, I would have pushed for the Barn.

Wow didnt realise theres actually loads of ladies from Bedford on here. When i put a thread up about this a year ago there was one other person lol. Im originally from Bedford moved away three years ago. Also used to live in QP & London rd area. Id say Swan hotel too, its really nice there. Great for the pictures down the Embankment too :) Random one, but has anyone found a good seamstress in Bedford. They dont seem to have any near where i live now.
