It's my 5th anniversary of when me and the other half got together tomorrow and it's got me thinking. After we are married will we still celebrate this date? Or forget about it and just celebrate our wedding day? Or will we celebrate both days?
Then it got me thinking HOW will we celebrate both, will we do the whole cards presents meal etc for both or will we do that for the wedding and just have something nice and simple for the "when we met" one like go out for a nice meal or something?

What will you be doing, have done?? Or did you get/set your days on the same date??

I would say you should still celebrate both, though as my mum and dad are together almost 40 years neither of them can remember the exact date they met but then so much time has passed and so much life has happened between then and now. All I know is they only knew each other around 9 months when they tied the knot.
Its the day you met him or got together with him and if it hadnt have been for that day your wedding would never have happened :-)

Whoops I forgot to add I met my Fiancé on 13th of August but we get married in July 2014. Basically I would just give him a card or something simple and leave the meal till the wedding anniversary as both dates will be so close together.
CommentAuthorTatty
My sister and her husband don't celebrate the day they got together but they do make sure both of them are home for dinner and have some time together when the kids have gone to bed to remember how they met and when they realised they loved each other and stuff. I hope me and my H2b will do the same. x

We dont really have an official got together date so we've never celebrated anything like that. But I think its swert to remember and have a special date night or something.

We chose to get married on the anniversary date that we met, it made sense as it was already a special date for us so why not get married on that date too:) x

Funily enough we have been talking about this recently as it's the 6th anniversary of our first date soon, but 2 year wedding anniversary in May. We decided that we would say x years since our first date ... but we don't acknowledge the anniversary of our engagement at all.

The problem we have is that our first date was 13th Feb so it's always extra expensive to go for a meal on that anniversary

Our anniversary is on the 14th February so it is Valentines anyway so will always be celebrated, our wedding anniversary will be just over 6 months later on the 30th August, so they arent close together. My parents married on the 17th September and met on the 30th October. They dont celebrate the meeting date as such, but they always make sure they either go out for a nice meal or cook a special one at home xxx

We never celebrate the day we got together, (we can't actually remember the actual date we just know it was around the middle of June time). Lots of people still celebrate the day they got together along with there wedding anniversary, unless you get married on the same date you got together and then it's a 2 for 1 deal then!
CommentAuthorAtaraxia
We got married on our anniversary too :) we just have the fun of two wedding anniversaries - we celebrate our Spain wedding as the actual anniversary on July 5th but are also planning on doing a little something to celebrate our legal wedding date :)

I think you only really need to celebrate one anniversary a year and will be your wedding date plus you'll get cards from family then too xxx

Now we are married, the only date we now celebrate is our wedding anniversary itself. We still, however give a 'wow, it's X years since we had our first date - can you believe that?' on the 13 July each year.

It's funny, we actually made a bug fuss of our anniversary of the getting together (9 dec 2006) last year as h2b said 'it will be our last one ever, because next year we'll have our wedding and that anniversary'.
I think we will probably acknowledge our getting together anniversary, maybe cook a nice meal etc and go out on our actual wedding anniversary xx

We will still celebrate our 1st date but just go 4 meal, maybe cards not sure about presents tho and then on our wedding anniversary we will go way, already decided that our 1st wedding anniversary we will go back 2 Venice, we went there about 7 yrs ago loved it said we go back but never did and we even have a 'Venice pot' where we put a couple of quid away a week!! We'll celebrate both in one as our wedding day is 2 days before the anniversary we celebrate now. I'd still do both if they weren't close together though! I doubt we'll celebrate the engagement date though but we'll see xx

We met online roughly a month and half before our first date which was 29th July. We will be getting married on 13th July so prob only celebrate the one, wedding one. Didn't do anything for anniversary last year and don't think yr before either.
CommentAuthorMrsGothBride
We celebrate our got together date, its 8th Feb and also the date that we got engaged (5 years later). We usually go out for a meal and exchange anniversary cards. We get married on 5th September and I think this Will replace the Feb date in terms of sending cards.
