    Hello,

I only have 9 days (!!!) left before I get married... and I am torn because we both are HUGE animal lovers and our 16 year old cat is the light of our lives.

We have asked from the start to have our cat as ring bearer. He is exceptionally mellow, unusual and like a dog, and loves people. He would only be carried in by a bridesmaid for the entrance/procession, then taken out to a warm car.

Our reverend said "maybe but probably no".... and recently it has become "no because things must be proper"....

But on the Church of England site, I see wedding with dogs are advertised.....

So, I am not asking for opinions on whether you think I am a crazy cat lady (I know I am :->) - I just want to know if ANYONE can find any EVIDENCE of dogs or cats being allowed to be at a wedding or ring bearers in Church of England wedding services, so I have something concrete to show her, to ask why I cannot have the same opportunity.

The most important thing is us two and our vows, indeed, however he is a loved member of our family, just like everyone else there on the day. I can't see how someone holding him for 2 minutes in church can hurt or detract from the seriousness of the day.

THANK YOU for any help, anecdotes, information, links... :)

I don't think it matters what the COE generally allows, if your reverent doesn't want it there then I don't believe she has to allow it. Her church, her rules etc. You could try to go above her head, but that's not going to create a good relationship with the woman.

I'm sorry to say but I agree, i'm afraid its down to the reverent/vicar at your church.
If they dont want it then theres not much you can do other then find another church that will allow it or maybe not having a church wedding. You need to decide whats more important a church wedding or having your cat there.

It is the vicars church so down to them on what/who they allow in the church.
