Bless you. First of all get a rough idea of guests numbers and then start looking for venues. You can get a full list from the registry office. You can then work out which ones you can afford and set a budget. From there work out what is important to you and then start booking suppliers once you have the venue date set.

If you need help about giving notice etc then have a look on your local councils website and they will show you all the legal side of it.

you need to work out what sort of day you want and get a ruff idea of how much it will cost so you know how much you need to save.
that will give you some ideas of what you want.
make a list and start ticking things off

Have you got a venue sorted? Lots of places get booked up a year or so in advance, so I'd recommend starting some research in to that. are you having a church service or civil ceremony? Congratulations and welcome to ukbride by the way! You'll be addicted like the rest of us in no time! :-) xx

There is a wedding/bridal checklist on here too so you can find all the stuff you are looking for - at the top of the forums is the option to search so if you enter checklist it should come up

Welcome and congrats on the forthcoming wedding :D xxx

Right I've been lookin at venues and narrowed it down to a few :-) jus got to get prices. Didnt know chester zoo did weddings?!?

How do you decide who to invite to the ceremony (apart from the obvious people :p) as we have many close friends an family that we want to invite, am jus not sure the budget will cover it :(

Can any one give me advice on dress shopping! I have a friend who does one off designs but really unsure about it (I would love her to do it bt its the rest of the bridal party aswell )

My future mother in law bought me a wedding planner so I am going to use that as a guide aswell :)

Never would have thought so much was involved in this :-S

when we decided who to invite it did take a while....well h2b took a while.

for the ceremony and sit down meal it is just immedidate family and close friends and other family and friends to evening.

be strict with the list tho. when we did ours h2b kept saying i was his best man, i was usher, i went to their whole day. i got bored of saying to him just becuase you were at theirs doesnt give them a right for them to be at ours which he still doesnt understand!!

i think it is one of the hardest parts to be honest. both write your own list and then compromise. prob the easiest way xx

haha I know what you mean :) I will get h2b to right out a list so we can decide who will be comin to the service and who is going to be invited to the reception.

I think Ive set quite a big budget compared to some of my friends that got married last year, but their's was very basic (would like somethink abit more elegant but thats jus me)

thats the other thing, we do not know if we want to do a sit down meal for wedding guests or not as Ive been to weddings where it did go abit wrong due to lack of organisation however it would be something that we will consider.

    Xx

The first two things that Thought about as soon as I got engaged was 1) Guest list and 2) Colour!

The guest list was pretty easy as we only have a small group of friends and family.

And to me it was important to find the colour we wanted - everything else can revolve around that then!

I'm extremely lucky though as my mum who lives 5 hours away from me is doing loads of stuff - she calls me up with ideas she's seen etc and just says would you like that - and i say yes or no.
im lucky she doesnt mind me saying 'no that sounds horrible' she just says ok no worries, on to the next idea!! Its fab!!

So your next task is to find yourself someone like that who will really help you. Can be a friend, or family member. :)

Welcome :) And I would agree with rhiannon's post, for us the first aspects we considered were the guest list and colour scheme. Good luck with your planning :)
