Hi all basically my sis has 4 layers of foundation and very thick eyeliner round her eyes with huge flicks, which actually does suit her but i have asked her to have her make up done by the stylist doing mine and natural looking for my wedding as she is 1 of my 6 bridesmaids. Am i wrong to ask her to do this or should i let her wear it as its what she is comfortable in?

maybe you could come to a comprimise!!!

i understan where ur coming from and u have a certain style you have in mind for them to have i.e natural

but then she prob feels comfortable and its not fair to ask someone to spend a day outwith their comfort zone!

maybe say to have 1 or 2 layers of foundation and not do the flicks with eyeliner and have a thin layer of mascara?? x

You could ask her to do natrual for the day and the pictures and then for the reception she can do her make up how she likes

becca i said i jus dont want her orange (lol cos she is) and without the thick eyeliner n flicks, she can still have eyeliner (normal) and thick mascara if she wants but a lighter foundation that actually matches her skin. good idea about the daytime n reception mrs hall 2 b x

I think as you are having 6 bridesmaids you can 'advise' her on her foundation choice so they all complement each other. She can always add more later for the night time. How did she react when you said about getting her make up done for her?

I would let the make up lady talk to her. She can show her how to look amazing without looking like an umpa lumpa.

Great idea to say need to compliment all the bridesmaids for the ceremony/photos etc. Then free rein on how she looks for the evening reception xx

i have a similar situation with my sister except im doing the makeup as ive been training in bridal makeup, we had practise trial last week and think we are now sorted she liked the toned down look i did for the day in the end but have told her she can make the eyemakeup more dramatic for the evening she seems happy with that i just pointed out that although it looked good day to day on her the heavy makeup would look even heavier in the photos and wouldnt go with the style and look of the wedding party xx

tell her to think of it as a pampering, having a make up artist doing all the stuff for her and she can just sit back and relax knowing that a pro isnt going to let her look odd or orange!

as long as she gets to do what she wants post photos, i cant see her having a problem with it really; its your day, and she should be willing to compromise?
you never know, she might like the toned down look <3 x

why dont you cut out a photo from a magazine of a bride or someone with nice subtle make-up and say thats how you want all your bridesmaids make-up on the day- its only one day and i think it could look a bit odd if everyone has got different amounts of make-up on

Your day, your way - she can wear her make-up how she likes any other day of they week! If she does get stroppy about it then I think the wedding/evening do compromise is a fantastic idea.
Hope it all works out. xx

no way! this is just a cosmetic fashion and it doesn't look good in the pictures afterwards - it's upstaging you by sticking out of the other 5.

my very bestest friend in the world does exactly the same eye make up you describe - i'm going to have to have this talk with her, but she is just as excited about the wedding as i am and i think she would totally understabd.

all my ladies will have the same hair and make up done. a natural 40's look will be flattering but simple for them.

You could always photoshop a bridal wedding photo so that one of the bridesmaids looks like an umpa lumpa and show her that is what you don't want her to look like on the photos. If you want I could have a play around with one lol. It might just hit home to her then how silly she will look on the photos.
