I don't really want a "Hen Night" as such I just want a pamper session with my girlies in a hotel the weekend before. When I told them what I wanted they pretty much all jumped down my throat saying I had to have one and that it's mighty selfish of me not to want to wanna go out and get slaughtered drunk with them, I don't mind going out with them all but when we do, I somehow always end up being the "mum" in the group and making sure everyone else gets home safe thats just my role LOL. I don't have a problem with it but do I really wanna be babysitting them all on my "hen night" I think not LOL......this is why I would much more prefer a hotel pamper something nice and relaxing. Is it wrong of me to want this instead of a full on club crawl??

um ..... how is it selfish of you when its YOUR hen night .....i had to do the same , as they all said " oh we have to go to town and get plastered " my response was ... "if you want to do that go ahead but i wont be joining you "

stand you ground hun .. it wants to be a time that you remember fondly not one when you have a rubbish time and then look back on it hating it

I'm not sure how it makes me selfish exactly as when I asked that question the reply I got was, "it just is" LOL. I've never been a big drinker I've only been drunk once in my whole life and the hangover I had the next day was enough for me to promise myself never to drink like that again LOOL xx

Tell them if they feel like that they can go out in your honour, but as its your hen do, you will be doing something you want and if they dont like it, they dont have to come and those that are going for you will do what you want and the others are just looking for an excuse to get drunk.

Lol, it's your hen so you have the party that you want and if having a spa pamper day is your thing then put your foot down, it's them who are being selfish for not respecting what the bride wants for her hen xxx

It's your hen do. You can call the shots.
I don't want a big drunken night out, for one I don't drink so I don't want to be sat there while everyone else starts fallin down around me.

I would absolutely put your foot down. It's your hen and you can choose what you want to do. If you want a pampering session the weekend before your wedding for your hen then that's your choice.

Ummm... Pampering and looking radiant versus dehydration & looking/feeling wrecked... I know which one I'd choose!!
Besides, going on a night out can be one at any time - you only get one hen, so do what you want!

It's not selfish at all, I wasn't too fussed about having a hen do because I'm not that sociable I tend to sit back and watch.

But I had the same everyone in my face telling me I had to have one, I don't drink and I'm pretty boring so in the end I went for a murder mystery in a hotel, at least they get to drink and I can go to bed early lol.

Hen parties don't have to involve drinking, it's whatever you want to do at the end of the day.

I wont be having the traditional 'getting drunk' hen do either.
Reason being, i don't really drink and my youngest daughter will only be 11 and as she is a bridesmaid i want her to involved.
At the moment an at home pamper sounds likely, probably will get someone in to do our nails too x

I think it's a lovely idea, it's your hen do what you want to do. If they really want to drink find a spa that lets them do so. That I think is a very happy medium.

Me & H2B want a "STEN" neither of us are all that sociable, having two kids we tend to stay in. We do both like going out for a drink but cant afford to with the boys. Plus we prefer to go drinking together.

The guys know they can still go all out with a stripper if they feel the need as me & one of my bridesmaids are bi anyway so the only one whos not is "lovely leesa" but we are all up for that sort of fun anyway.

Thinking of doing the STEN weekend before the wedding, then having a pamper sesh/gaming night for him the night before.

It's your night so do what YOU want to do!

Make it what you want it to be, as the others have said! It is not essential to go out, get ratted and feel a mess the next day. Do what you feel happy and comfortable with.

I am not doing the whole night out thing at all - I am allergic to alcohol for a start, and can't chat over the noise - big no-nos for me! Pampering sounds good, and relaxed :)

Your totally not being selfish hun. I know i'm only in early 30's but my drinking days are long gone give me a spa day or afternoon tea at a nice hotel anytime over spending a pile of money to wake up the next day feeling tired and generally a bit sick no thanks! stick to your guns as the other girls have said its your hen doo so your choice and your rules. Any decent friends should be only to happy to join you.

I'm getting lots of grief cos I want no hen do of any description, no night out, no pamper weekend etc. and people are getting really annoyed about it. I've got enough on trying to plan a wedding that is happening 200 miles away without trying to free up a weekend and extra money!!!!!

I don't think it's wrong of you at all to not want a hen night for those reasons. My h2b is worried because he doesn't really want a traditional stag do, he just wants to go to a snow dome with his friends and try skiing. They all want matching jackets and strippers. If you could meet my hubby to be you would lol because that couldn't be further from what he would want! You are not the selfish one, it is your friends who are being selfish because they are trying to pressure you to turn your hen do into what they want and not what you want. x

I dont think you are wrong to not want one, I am having a spa day instead of going out and getting hammered. I aren't a big drinker and I would hate a night out! x

That sounds very similar to what I'd like for my hen do. I think you should stick to what you want and know you'll enjoy.

Your friends will get their own hen nights to pick what they want to do so should respect your decision. I'd love a girls weekend relaxing and being pampered! Sounds like the perfect pre wedding treat to me!
