I recently went to view a wedding venue which was stunning i really liked it they gave us a good deal
worked out for wedding and reception £800 food £1,550 Buffet catering for 120 guests.
However when i put the deposit down for venue was told about how my guest's will get hungry between wedding and reception and how if i bring the food out at 7 like i wanted, the food will run out. As im getting married on a Monday, everyone will be late! So was told to pay an extra £647 for an extra buffet for inbetween???
However i dont understand how as im getting married at 4.30pm and buffet comes out at 7pm??
I also said i couldnt afford welcome drinks for everyone so would stick £200 behind the bar and when it ran out that was it!! To which she replied " well when your getting your pictures taken everyone will be at the bar cos they would be thirsty !" I really not sure what to think? do you think she holds a valid point or am i sounding tight? in not wanting to waste money ?

i think she`s just trying 2 get more money out of u cos its a "wedding", im getting married at 4.30pm on a saturday, being seated about 5.30pm buffet out 4 6pm then evening guests come at 8pm and the evening buffet is coming out at 9pm but u do it the way u want noone can tell u wen 2 have it etc they can only adivise, as 4 the welcome drinks i think thats fine putting money behind the bar then once its done thats it they need 2 pay 4 there own, im having, for the ppl coming to the cermony, welcome drink, toast drink, meal drink after that they can pay 4 there own lol xx

Just make sure the money behind the bar is enough for everyone to have one drink- not just the fifty people or so.

my venue are doing a drinks package of 2 glasses each and cheap champs for the toast but they are using the very small glasses which u dont notice untill some one shows u the proper size glasses and thats just over £200 but that only for 60 people! the money for food is just like another buffet so there proberly right! i hope u get it sorted hun! bearing in mind people would have eaten before the wedding so dont worry to much xxx
every venue will do the same to you honey as they are there to sell to you.... i only had one reception drink and they said that everyone would be at the bar... they were but it wasnt a big deal!!! if you are getting married at 4.30, it will be finshed by 5pm. straight on to photos, take about hour and a half, finished at 6.30... buffet out at 7 sounds perfect!!!
they will try and make you feel guilty as they want more money out of you.... just be strong and say no thank you.... if they say something about it... just say, oh that fine and smile! dont be pushed in to anything you dont want x x

sounds like you don't need an extra buffet at all. and the £200 behind the bar sounds fair to me. our venue is givin us a drinks package included in the overall price. so your £200 will be fine. they can have a drink or two whilst photos are doing and then after that they pay for their own! i've NEVER been to a wedding where the bride and groom have put money down for the bar. so i wouldn't worry. stick with what you want. x

i think you are fine with what you have. if your guests get thirsty they will buy drinks for themselves. its not up to you and h2b to provide drink aswell! x

I think they are just trying to get you to spend more money with them, but in all fairness they all tend to do that at some point or another.
You should have what you want and don't feel pressurised into having extras just because they tell you to. I think the package sounds good and the amount of money behind the bar is fine. I never go to a wedding expecting to get free drinks so I think you are being generous.
We got really really lucky with our package, it was during a limited edition sale they had on for these particular packages and we were one of the lucky ones to get in! It includes our venue (lovely big marquee & private bar) for the whole day and sit down wedding breakfast and evening buffet for 100 people and it is only coming to £899, there are lots of little extras added on to that too! x x x
