Our friend was going to make our wedding cake so when she bought the cake tins specially for making our cake, I transferred her the money. She text the other day saying she couldn't do our cake now and it was only today that I realised I'd like the cake tins for myself since we paid for them. I asked for them back and she said her FSIL is going to borrow them (not hers to lend out) so I said well I don't want to buy another set so can she buy her own. She then made another excuse and I came back with something she couldn't argue with. She then text saying 'I wanted to keep them so I can transfer the money if you want'. She got them half price I think so if we do buy more we're going to have to pay double now. Was I being unfair for asking for them back? She seems to think so! x x

No way! They are yours and you payed for them! Tell her that you got them half price and would now have to pay for more for them so you either want them back or she can pay you double so that you can buy a new set xxx

    No I dont think so!
Tell her to buy another set & give you one of them or you will have to pay double due to the discount she gets
Either that or she never actually bought them? Just took your money?

Sorry if that is out of line but its a bit odd that she keeps coming up with excuses

Nope, you are totally in the right. Explain to her that you want those ones as they were discounted and why should you pay full price when you already own the cake tines you wanted?!

    Xx

Think she being a bit cheeky and i would question if she brought them as well x

No, since you paid for them you should get the tins back or she should provide replacements.

No you paid for them so I would say that you want the tins back or she would have to pay you double since she got them for half price.

Its not fair on you to have to go out and buy some more when you have already brought them in the first place. I think she is being a bit cheeky.

I'm on your side with this one. She either needs to give you your money back or give you the tins.

Thanks girls, I feel better now! I just want to keep the peace so I said she can give the money back. Tbh I probably won't make my own wedding cake anyway, it'd be a disaster! I just needed an excuse to get them back since we paid for them so at least we're getting the money back (which she wouldn't have offered if I wouldn't have asked) x x

Makes sure you push for it because it sounds like she was quite happy with her new tins courtesy of you. You hadn't bought them as a present but because she was going to make your cake. She went back on this so should give you the cash or tins. Good luck xx

I can understand you wanting to keep the peace but make sure you get your money back, she will have still gotten a set of tins at a bargain price that she would probably not have got if you hadn't asked her to do your cake. Hope it works out for you xx
