Well the original plan was to get a brace before the wedding but jut been to my first consultant appointment, and the cost has left me very deflated, i just dont know what to do, my other half is like yeah do it its something i've wanted for ages (i have a gap between my front teeth and its getting bigger) but i've only just budgeted for our wedding and still stressing about that! i'm a natural born worrier by the way :( i just dont know what to do, do i sacrifice some of my wedding things, hen do etc just for my appearance. i know deep down im never gonna be truly happy about my smile until something is done about it but can i really justify the cost?! what would you do? sorry if this doesnt make sense my head is constantly thinking pros and cons so keep going off into my own little world! i' not a vain person far from it but i would like some photos of our wedding i can be proud of! sorry for the rant people :( x

I've always wanted my teeth straightened, and one day when I have the spare cash I'll do it. I totally get where you're coming from. Will your teeth be corrected by the wedding? If not i wouldn't even consider having it done until afterwards.

Yeah he said if start this month my teeth will be done in march, because its pretty straight forward for me my bite is perfect my bottom teeth are straight its just the top front ones but still going to cost max £2500 with whitening, just going through finances now :/ dear do for vanity eh x

Hmmm.... I can see why you're having difficulty deciding. I would be tempted to do it.

I say get them done... whilst your teeth are strong and your gums are healthy... also get them to have any "bite" issues corrected now... it can stop all sorts of problems in thr future... I was "lucky" enough to fall in to the NHS category for orthodontics when I was 15 and needed fairly significant work, as did my brother... but aside an uneven tooth (which funnily enough i was thinking about today) theyre really good as a result of the work!
I had to have surgery to an expose a tooth that was going through. It can be quite painful especially if they're rushing the process, but I think totally worth it!
DONT get veneers... they ruin your teeth, even the best ones.
And we lived happily ever after!

Thanks ladies, i've got some more questions to ask him anyway so see whats said tomorrow when i call him, i have actually had a brace before on the nhs when i was a teenager but they relapsed due to not getting the right treatment! so everything is good apart from the growing gap between the front two Xx

I don't think you're being vain at all, 99.9% of brides want to be confident in looking their best for their big day.
My hubby got a few skin tags removed a coupe of months before the wedding because he wanted to look his best in the wedding photos xxx

If you've wanted it for so long and it makes you unhappy then go for it.. You looking back on your wedding photos in years to come and loving them instead of criticising them is more important than an extravagant hen do.. I have a gap too, mine from muscle growing down and keeping them apart.. Mine isn't getting bigger though.. If I had it braced, which I considered, I'd have to have to muscle cut and brace on but the muscle would grow back and push my teeth back apart causing me lots of pain xxx

If the gap's getting wider, does that mean that the longer you leave it the more expensive it'll be to fix? If so then I'd go for it now. In fact, I think I'd get them done now regardless - the sooner you get them done, the more years worth of straight teeth you get for your money!

I'd say go for it hun. If it's going to make u feel better and give u a confidence boost then why not...xx

I say do it before the wedding - yes, it's expensive but it will be worth it in the long run and will give you a confidence boost on your wedding day.
I got laser eye treatment last year and I'm so glad it means I don't need to wear glasses or contact lenses for my wedding.

Well after working finances out it looks like i'll have to wait till after the wedding, feel bit down about it but theres nothing i can do, because im a stay at home mum and were paying for the wedding ourselves it means any spare money goes towards paying the remaining cost off, (plus h2b just bought a vintage lorry/truck thing) so hoping just the whitening will make a difference for the pics, gutted but i should be grateful i can have them done just not now x

If you really want to do it then do it but you H2B loved you with wonky teeth and will still love you with wonky teeth regardless of whether you get them sorted or not, he will always love you as it's you he fell in love with.... Not your teeth :) xx

Could the gap be filled temporarily, like with a temp filling, just to cover the gap? That way you can spend your money on the wedding and then save to have your teeth corrected afterwards?
CommentAuthorCamillaB
i would say get your teeth done but maybe search around and buy the tooth whitening stuff elsewhere, so that way it saves you money. I fly back and for america quite a lot and always buy my teeth whitening stuff over there as they have some AMAZING teeth whitening products.. i could suggest a few products on your wall if interested? let me know xx

Thank you for you comments not going to put the wedding back as we have already done that when i found out i was pregnant then lost my job a week later :/ ( it should of been july 26th 2013) im going to just make do and have a word with the photographer as well, shes knows i dont ike having my pic taken from an earlier shoot when my daughter was born so im sure she'll capture some good angles (fingers crossed) Camilla thank you so much for offering that but i'd have to go to the dentist to get them whitened because i have a cap on front tooth from when i was 13 so that will prob need replacing to match the colour Xx
