so got my quote through from the hairdresser (and would be for the following hair types:)

myself-currently hair is about 6 inch but grows quick so should be below shoulder length in 12mths. plus will have extensions that will be getting prior to this appointment.
moh- tight curls but always straightens, when straight below shoulders just. thin hair
bm j- sweeping fringe, very short pixi cut about an inch long
bm k- long wavy hair well past shoulders.

for me i want farrah fawcett style hair + veil + tiara, and for my 3 bms i want a simple loose side bun with sweeping fringe (think simple but elegant 40's type style)- for bm j, the work will be in her fringe pulled across to match the others bun.

they have said for us to come on the day having washed our hair the day before (surly bm j needs to have wet hair for them to repostion her fringe?) and the curly girls to have strightened their hair.
said that it will take 1 1/2 - 2 hours for my hair which seems a bit long. we shall have 3 hairdressers on the and will be going to the salon.

they have said my hair will be £65 for the trial and moh's £35.
then on the day £55-65 for bms and £95 for mine!!!!

is that not bonkers? if not just for the fact the girls hair is more complex than mine. its not exactly a posh town and although the lady was lovely obviously i dont want to be ripped off. what sort of prices did you all pay or expecting to pay?? i.e am i just being tight?

£65 for the trial? i think thats a bit much in that respect, id expect to pay that for your hair being done on the day! to me the prices quoted are a bit steep. have you thought about a mobile hairdresser? sometimes they are a lot cheaper and i find its more relaxed being done at home.

my hair and makeup being done by a mobile girl i went to school with, im mind i havent seen her in 16 years she is charging me 45 for hair and makeup onthe day, 4xbm 35 each 1xfg 15 mob and mog 35 each too. my trials for everyone is 25 exc fg shes a tenner

id seriously consider shopping around hunni before making a decision xxx

Well I have extreme quotes a bit like what you've just posted and just couldn't bring myself to pay them, so luckily I have managed to get a quote from a lady whom was working in a salon but due to having a baby is now freelance and for me she has quoted £55.00 including trial. And I'm having all mine put up in rather a complex style- she called it grecian knot but when I googled the images of it, this isn't what it looked like!! lol and my bridesmaid is having her's put up in a half pony tail with slight a bit of wave added. And another friend is having her's curled and she is blow drying my mums. She is charging £20 for my bridesmaid and friend and £10 to do my mums hair. So no I don't think you are being tight at all and she is travelling to the venue.

If I were you I would definitely shop around a bit more- before I found my hairdresser the best quote I got was £75.00 for me without trial, even that's better than what you've been quoted. xx

I have no comparison but to me this sounds totally bonkers.

I would do my own hair but a friend is coming round (she's a vintage stylist) and helping me with the girls and offered to do mine too and I think I'll take her up on the offer but will ultimately decide on the day or shortly before. We're exchanging favours on a regular basis so this is a massive one from her :-)

I've been quoted £35 for trial & £35 for on the day, she is a mobile hairdresser. I would definitely look around for more quotes as that does seem quite expensive to me x

see were stopping in the hotel the night before and had thought that would be a nice little outing for us because were guna be there from the fri to the sun which is why was going to a salon. she made out after that we would be saving money too by coming to the salon. i thought also that it would be about 65 on the day for me as their not even guna be using grips in my hair.
how can they charge prices like that when people are all ready paying out for the rest of their wedding :0( its so good to have back up for questions on here, i'd probably ended up moaning and just paying it if i wasnt on here x

When i was getting quotes I was amazed at the prices, particularly as I'm in London. One place wanted to charge £85 for my trial and £195 for the day! Then there was my FG and BM on top. My BM has REALLY short hair, so decided against anything for her, but they wanted £80 for FG who is 8 yes old!
Needless to say, I didn't use them LOL!.

For Vegas though, I found a mobile lady who came to my room and did a trial the day before for just me and hair and make up for me and MoH on the day - was total of $140, which is about £85 that included false eyelashes as well as the trial for me!

Nice Lala! :0) That seems very steep fairy-cakes. My sisters wedding hair was £85 including the trial and my bridesmaid hair was £30.

Since my sister got married, a woman who my mum plays netball with has opened a salon with her sister and is doing my hair and trial for £30 and the bridesmaids for £15 each. :0)

    Can't wait to be married!

im guna ring round today i think and a asked if they sent me the right quote. the lady is who i spoke to and then the husband emailed me the quote. i spoke to bm j and she pointed out that where her hair is short it has to be wet to be restyled so if she washes it night before they wont be able do nowt with it next day therefore there is no way they can warrent that price.

would take my ususal hairdresser over an hour to get to us from her home right across to the hotel on the day thats why getting someone else :0( i think i need to befriend a hairdresser between now and then lol xx

All hairdressers say it is better to put hair up when's it dirty/ not recently washed as it becomes too shiny n falls out of the grips easily. They use dry shampoo to freshen up roots. I'm paying £30 each for me and my bridesmaids however it is a friend hence why it s cheaper I expect it would cost more if a friend wasn't doing it as I've seen some expensive prices too

Mine are coming to the venue on the morning of the wedding 2 hairdressers to do me and 4 bms + fg. The girls can't have trials as they don't live local but They've quoted me £65 for trial and wedding as I'm just having loose curls and a couple of bits clipped back and the girls are £30 each then when I booked she told me there was a 20% discount because there are 6 of us to be done. Another bonus is that the same team did my friends wedding earlier in the year and did a fantastic job, I also nabbed her make-up artist. x

    I can't wait until 29/06/2013
The day I marry the man of my dreams!

yea but liza the one that i ment is bm j as her hair is so short, the only thing that can be done is blow dry her sweeping fringe into the matching positon which they cant do if they dont wash it on the day :0S so glad i started looking into this early as would be soo stressed any nearer to the time... shirleygirly thats what i want, loose curls x

think i found someone... she's guna come to the hotel and is charging 45 or 65 inc m/up for the bm's (and she's guna wash and blow dry joannes to get the fringe in position :0) ) and 55 or 75 inc m/up for me. was really helpful to about extensions and told me where can get could clip in ones or gave me extra 100 off the price she advertises for the hair extensions that you keep- need to work on james to have those ones though lol. really wanted my e.laud make up for the day and not be stuck in the hotel BUT am now seeing how much easier would be to stop in our pj's all morning and would be more likely that im ready on time (which will make a change haha). still guna have a pop over to the other appointments on thursday just to make sure its right for us.

the original hairdresser hasnt even bothered to get back in touch with me when i questioned their quote so they obviously werent that bothered about us anyway. thanks again for all your help ladies x
