Aggghhh another day, another problem. This one has me in tears.
The church say that the chairs at the wedding must be in a circle facing inwards - despite the fact I am getting married at the altar at one end of the room. They wont change it so its in rows looking forward.
Might be an over-reaction but I'm now crying. I want to walk down the aisle in my big dress etc, not through a middle of a circle. The guests will be facing each other and not us getting married! My family in the front row? Technically the front row extends in a circle so the front row includes the back of the room.
I'm so upset, I want to walk down the aisle, not though the middle of a circle - what the heck am I going to do cos at the moment all I can see is my dream of walking down the aisle ruined and on the day, me crying and not wanting to do it.

Thats crazy sweetie... you arent over reacting.... when you have a lovely traditional church wedding you want all the bits as they should be. Any room at all for negotiation? Have they given you a reason?
because apparently thats the way it is. There is another wedding that day so they want change it especially for us. Its ok for sunday service cos they do it in the middle of the room, but the wedding wont be in the middle

If you are paying for their services then they should cater to your needs. That is crazy. No wonder you are upset.
CommentAuthorMrs Turps (Nicpep)
I have left a message with the vicar crying. But the church administrator said theres nothing they will do and doesnt understand why Im upset. To which i responded "have YOU been dreaming of walking down the aisle since you were a little girl?"

Just a thought could you get in touch with the other bride at all? Ask her about flowers etc and see if you can join together to save you both costs? You could also ask her if she likes the lay out and if you both want it changing they haven't got a leg to stand on.
CommentAuthorluvlifejen (mrs berr
i'd be really unhappy and having them change it as jo said ur paying for it! xx

Ask them to pass your details onto her. I can understand them not giving you someone else's details as it is data protection but that doesn't mean you can't have your details passed on. Tell them you want to share the cost of flowers and decs etc.
CommentAuthorMrsMac
Would they allow it if you got someone to do the work and put it back as it was afterwards so they didnt have to do anything? xxx
CommentAuthorMrs Turps (Nicpep)
nah, the church do the flowers for you, its all included - its not an "optional" package lol

What's the point of having an altar if they don't use it? Do the chairs move? Tell all your guests that when they go in, they're to move their chairs to make an aisle :)
CommentAuthorMrs Turps (Nicpep)
We will be at the altar, its just that the guests wont be facing it

The only thing you could do is ask another church in your parish boundaries. If it isn't withing the boundaries though they will not allow you to get married there. Another option is to find a church willing to do a blessing for you and see if you can get a registrar to marry you legally in the church. It can be done by all accounts. I'm just not sure if they will have any free to do it though. It would also cost you more as you would need to pay not only the church but the registrar as well. The only other thing is to continue with the church you already have. Remember though that you are not in the church for long and the rest of the day will not be affected by it. It does sound crap and the vicar doesn't sound too helpful either but its not him that you are marrying its your h2b. Just keep looking at him and the rest really won't matter by the time you see him.
CommentAuthorPossum
Agree with Jo - ask another church if they have a space. It is useless to have the guests all looking at each other whilst the wedding is happening outside the circle! What a load of rubbish :(
CommentAuthorMrs Brakes
Can you get married in the centre of the circle instead of at the alter?
Got married 11/11/11.
CommentAuthorHappilymarried Mrs G
I was going to say, maybe a pretty table / alter in the middle of a circle could be lovely. Im sorry, i know your upset and i am also looking forward to walking down the aisle and would be upset if my plans were spoilt, but i cant help but wonder why you didnt know about this sooner. Did you not visit the church or speak about chair layout when you booked the church?
CommentAuthorsbride
Oh nic how awful. I cant believe how unreasonable they are being! How can it be such a problem? I think you should see if u can get another church in your parish if thats possible. Keeping my fingers firmly crossed you get it sorted x
