My oh is a postman and has said he doesn't want to have a wedding ring as it would get caught in boxes and would either damage the ring or cut his hand, which I'm completely fine about, but I don't want to not give him something. I'm not sure what I would give him though! Does anyone have any ideas on what I could give him? He already has a watch and he's not the jewellery wearing type of person! Tiara x

A difficult one Mrs T. I know there are such things as silicone rings which could be an option as they are almost work safe but personally I don't like them.

Otherwise maybe just a small token gift - so maybe something you have crafted like an embroidered hankie or something like those "reasons I love you" books, or even a really nice pocket watch with an engraving that he doesn't have to wear but could have on display at home?

My OH doesn't want to wear a ring day to day as he's not a jewelry wearer (he doesn't even wear a watch) but we are just getting one to exchange on the day.

Those are good suggestions wundatigga. I think what you're doing might be a the best way to go.

(I've just noticed where I meant to sign off with tia, my phone has autocorrected to tiara!)

I thought you might have been suggesting a tiara for him hehe. I think it is good to exchange the rings and he could always wear it on a chain around his neck if he did want to wear something.

I am not being so kind, I have said that he has to wear one or what is the point in getting married! I don't actually feel that but he wanted to get married, I was happy living in sin but he wants us to have the same name before children. So that was my ultimatum to him, if we get married he either has a tattooed version of a ring (he hates needles and tattoos so that isn't happening) or he wears a ring. That is going to be a painful shopping day!

ultimately though I think you should do what you both feel comfortable with, there are so many traditional aspects that just do not apply today that you should do what you both feel comfortable with x

I myself am getting a ring then our wedding date tattooed on my finger

    Good luck x

For our engagement i wanted OH to have something to mark the occasion. I have my engagemtn ring, he has his bracelet.
It is a leather bracelet so not a formal one but i got it engraved with our initials and the date. Unfortunately it is too big so i bought him another one, not engraved but he knows what it means.

He doesn't always wear it but he does most of the time / on important occasions.

Even though it is a casual bracelet it suits him and he will be wearing it on our wedding day etc. If he ever puts on weight he can wear his proper one, his engraved one!

What about a chain ? ... my husband doesn't wear his ring all the time which doesn't bother me as I understand there are times he is doing 'hands on' work and also he has to go abroad n fingers swell in heat
