    Hi everyone

For some reason the girly girl / princess inside of me is wanting me to try on one of these dresses (either the Cinderella or Snow White dress), but everywhere I try and contact in my area only seem to have these dresses in a size 12 to try on :(

I'm a plus size girl (I range between a size 26 and 32), and am trying my very hardest to lose weight in time for our wedding, but how do I know if one of these dresses are THE DRESS if there isn't any option for me to try one on??

Sorry, I probably seem like a right brat, but I'm already scared that I'm going to get laughed out of any bridal shop that I walk into because of my size :(

Awww hun, have you called all the shops in your area? I tried the princess and the frog dress on and I nearly went for that one but I chose an Essense of Australia dress in the end. I hope you find somewhere xxxxxxxxxxx

    Thanks hun ...

It seemed like fate when I realised they had Disney dresses as my venue have little Disney displays in part of their garden lol

I WILL try one on even if it means a big journey to get there :D

They are stunning, the princess and the frog one looked even better on than it does in the photos. I nearly went for it. Not cheap though, it was £1000 in the shop I was in. Im gettin mine made in China for £185 :-) Fingers crossed you get somewhere closeby

    hi hun,

i was a size 20 when i tried these dresses on and i have to say snow white did nothing for me as it has a short bodice so i ended up ordering Belle in a size 18 as i've lost a stone since the initial trying on (and still going, woot Zumba).

the dresses are amazing and most bridal shops either stock the same dress in plus size or can make it fit on you so you get an idea or what it will look like so i wouldn't worry about your size trust me i'm sure they've seen bigger.

keep ringing round all the shops and someone will have them in stock and just ask what size the sample dress is and if they have some size 20 so you can see what it looks like i'm sure someone will have it

if you cant find the dress you want in your size, why not try on general princess style dresses just to make sure that they do look right on you as it is the style you are trying to test out. If you like them, then the disney princess ones should be fine to. YOu may find after trying a princess one on that you have gone off the idea so i would advise to hunt down any princess dress that will fit and test that first for now, just incase you cant find the dress you are after.

I'm going to see what I can find, when should I be looking at trying dresses on? Is 12 months before too late / early?

this was the problem I had when trying on dresses, and I am a size 14! the shop only only had 1 or 2 dresses in each style and the sizes ranged from size 8 right up to 24+. Most I have to say were size 12's which fit a UK size 8-10. The dresses were being held on at the back with shoe laces or by the shop assistant. I did wonder, how can I be expected to for out over £1000 on a dress that I cant even try on properly?
as luck went i picked up a size 18 Benjamin Roberts and it fitted me perfect and it was the one. But probably because it was the only one that fitted me perfect! i dunno.
I got so frustrated not being able to try dresses on that actually fitted me, so i could see exactly what they would do, or not do for my figure.

they reccommend a minimum of 8 months to get the dress made and ordered. I would try a range of styles now if you can tho to see what you feel works well for you. I brought mine literally with 2 years to go, almost to the day so it doesnt really matter when to start looking.

I may have to start making some appointments then :)

I've seen so many stories online where ladies have had comments made about their size / weight by the shop assistants, that it really has put me off until now :(

Though I have to say the stores I have contacted so far have been very understanding, and one lady even offered to do an after hours appointment for me so I could try dresses on in the store without danger of anyone walking into the store :)

I went for my first appointment today and tried a dress on which was very similar to the snow white one. It wasnt what i had in mind but tried it on anyway and loved it. So floaty and felt like a princess in it. Going for another appointment tomorrow at a shop who stock Alfred Angelo so will definately try the snow white on. Dont worry to much about size and weight. All the shops ive been in and spoken too have been lovely and they are used to seeing all shapes and sizes. The shop i went to today had samples in all sizes x x x x

Not sure where you live pet, but it may be worth travelling to specific dress shops, if you Google it there are quite a few plus size bridal shops who stock everything in bigger sizes to try on, I know of one in castleford, Derby and Kent. I'm plus size and I rang ahead and I was able to try on at least 5 dresses in every shop, and didn't get any negative experiences, it was one of the best days ever and was so exciting , hope you fivnd the dress of your dreams, and the Disney ones are all fit for a princess for sure ;0) x

I was thinking the same Rach, the dress shop I went to had loads of samples in bigger sizes - I know I've had my own issues with the woman but I have to give her credit where it's due, she's a bigger lady herself and really does make you feel at ease because she understands the reactions you can sometimes get from 'normal' bridal shops. The one I went to was in York x

Aww hunni, there should be one somewhere you can try!

The bridal shop that had the Belle one had it in a 16 and she said she never got to chose which size they just send out one.
Keep looking, i had to travel over an hour to get to a shop that had the Belle dress and im not even going for that one now im going for another one that is very similar!!

I've been in touch with the Cardiff Bridal Centre and I have to say they have been so lovely and really put my fears at ease :)

I think I'll be booking an appointment with them for January to go and try some gowns on, and they definitely have the Disney dresses yay.

What d the fabrics feel like to touch?

I've seen posts on other sites where people have been calling them cheap and tacky because they've been given the Disney brand :S

But I don't care what other people think, I grew up watching Disney, and to be able to have a princess dress is sort of like a dream come true :)

I'm so excited for January now!!!

I agree with you EmmyR1984, being able to have a Disney princess dress is a dream come true for me too, h2b didn't want a disney theme but i'll still have the disney dress! :-) xx
