Sat here in tears I am so hurt....
Friday night my FIL posts on FB "wish England team would get rid of this band" so I commented and said "you could start a new one", he replies something about it being a football match not a carnival and I said LOL - "weddings dont really need magicians".... now we are having a magician which they are paying for and to me I was joking around meaning football matches/ weddings dont need these things but they make them fun - well apparantly not - yesterday we get a phone call from MIL asking what my comment is all about and why I wrote it and do we not want the magician then..... I didnt speak to her but H2B did and tried explaining I was joking etc. To no avail - I have apologised by text for what I class as doing nothing wrong, it was clearly a joke and I am so hurt that they would think I would be so ungrateful and rude to tell them I didnt want the magician by FB comment! They have known me for 7 years!
She didnt reply until just now saying she accepts my apology and hopes we can all move on - I am angry - what am I apologising for? her getting the wrong end of the stick? I deserve an apology because clearly they think I am a horrible person and I spent last night crying about it. GRRRRRR I have had it with this wedding.

Tbh, I wouldn't worry about it! They got the wrong of the stick and was a bit over sensitive to a comment u made. U have apoilgise and explained it was just a joke, they accept the appolie and want to move on. I would just forget about it, what's the point on stewing over something that has been resolved? U could get annoyed and stew then it will couse a lot of tension between u all, that the last think u want when planning your wedding.
U may feel cheated but be the bigger person and just let it go, or else it will make for a stressful wedding. Xx

I wouldn't worry about it. I can see why they got the wrong end of the stick to be honest, the link between the comment and your response isn't obvious, but as they've accepted it, I would do the gracious thing and leave it. I know it's annoying being held responsible for something that wasn't your fault, but sometimes you just have to be the bigger person. The way to apologise in that situation is: "I'm sorry if you were offended by my comment, I assure you none was intended", or something like that, so you satisfy them without accepting responsibility.

Like everyelse has said; they obviously got the wrong end of the stick and they are ready to move on so maybe you should too. Dwelling on this situation won't do you any good so just forget about it :)
