Myself and partner have recently got engaged so I am completely new to this but soooo excited to plan our big day :-)
We are planning a outdoor wedding on a farm with a vintage theme. We love the idea of a hog roast for the guests but struggling for ideas for the night time. We don't want anything that will cost a fortune but want something easy and bit unusual. I've seen street food vans for hire were people can go and help themselves which I like the idea of but no idea of costs etc. Has anyone done anything like this before? Any ideas would be appreciated. :-)

Firstly, congratulations! and welcome to the UKbride fun :D when is it you're planning on tying the knot?
I think that sounds like a nice laid back idea. I'm not sure about costs for the van hire but I am sure if you speak to a few people about it who run these sort of business I'm sure they will be happy to give you an idea of cost.
Something to consider is maybe in tandem with maybe an ice cream van? Just a thought, give it a really nice vintage look. You can also speak to the people who are doing your hog roast about maybe doing something separate for the evening like filled rolls?
My OH and I having a carvery style meal (hog roast is what we wanted initially but weren't impressed with local suppliers) with a chocolate fountain and sweet bar dessert. :D

i see you are looking for a farm venue but for any wedding the will need to hold a licence to hold weddings and they will need to have a permanent structure in order to hold an outdoor wedding ( they need a licence for that too )
I love the idea of the ice cream van I think that would be fab! I've started looking on ebay and im hooked already there's so much stuff ha. xxx

We had a hog roast for our evening buffet, went down a treat, over a year later and people are still talking about it lol.
Those street food vans are a nice idea but could be a little samey in terms of variety but that said it's unique. I'd be tempted to just lay on the usual finger buffet type food as it's normally quite affordable and caters for most if not all tastes etc.

Congrats Sarah! To give you an idea of cost we're having an ice cream van after the ceremony outside the church. We're paying £160 to include 60 ice creams and the van being decorated with wedding ribbons. We also had a quote for £150 just for the van then another £100 for the ice creams! So it pays to shop around! Xx

Check out wedding fayres as I went to one recently and outdoor food people seemed to be there more than before and this was from ice cream to caterers specialising in BBQ or Roasts so seems like the trend is starting with it being summer :)
Somehow always connected , finally became friends .
Friends became soul mates :)

We're having a hog roast at 5pm with a buffet style thing of smaller nibbles and vegetarian foods. This will be replenished throughout the evening. We've also got a candy floss machine and instead of a cake are having a desert table with lots of homemade cakes. This is working out so much cheaper than a sit down meal and it's more interactive for the relaxed, informal day that we want. Definitely shop around too! We got around 8 quotes for our hog roast for 150 people. Some wanted over £1200. The one we've gone for is £750 for 150 people, although we have 110 guests, people can have seconds :) xx
