just wanted a bit of advice on false nails. im not much of a girly girl, more of a jeans and tshirt sort of person and think i have only ever had false nails once lol i would like me nails done for the wedding and going today with my friend to have a trial.
any advice on which would look best and last longest. gel, acrylic? and what to have, short, medium, long? round, square? colours? diamante, transfer? so many options to think about lol im at a total loss before i start lol any advice and/or different experiences welcome :) x

i used to have false nails. i used to have acrylic and square! i had them about a month ago and really didnt like them! i would have them short as it does take a few days to get used to them.

If i was you i wouldnt get nails done but would get a manicure done every few weeks to make sure your real nails are looking nice for the day and they will get stronger. That is what i am doing anyway.

You say you dont normally have them so do you want to be uncomfy with them on your day? xx

Gel are meant to be the best but they are more expensive

I have acrylic and have had them on and on for over 2 years now mine are square and shortish its best to start short then work your way to a length your comfortable with. I get mine in filled 3 times then a new set put on

If your not sure why not try a normal manicure or French polish first and see what that looks like before going down the false route xx

hunny am a nail tech, id say acrylic as they strongest n square a s a round tip will be weaker...........i wouldnt bother with the diamonte's as they rarely stay on very long, maybe a a lil pattern or something on then.....

aquagel is also a good one its a mix between gel and acrylic. gel tends to lift if u have ya hands in water too much so aquagels a good mix, have em short to begin with so as they grow out ul get used 2 the longer lengths, n dont go anywhere that uses an electric drill as theyre very damaging to the natural nail. x x x

i get acrylic nails quite alot and find they last a long time and you can get them cut to a length that suits you and when they start growing off you can have them filled back in so look as good as new. i usually have them just past my fingertips and square with french manicure to finish x

Why dont you get them done a couple of months before the wedding so that you get used to them? In my experience I thought that I looked like I had pig trotters and really clumbsy the first time I had mine done. But once I got used to them it was fab (for the bedroom ;-)

i have acrylic all the time couldnt live without them...

idont hve gel as they lift bacuse i have oily nail beds!!

i have mine not square or rounded i have mine tapered so they look more like a natural nail then a lump of plastic stuck on...

for my wedding im having ivory tips so they dont look like simon cowells teeth and im having pearl and diamond embelish ments put on before a layer of glaze and go (like a clear nail varnish but hardens under uv light)

defo what mrs p says no electric drills they are awful... and imo not a chineese one as the products they use can turn yellow (its happened to me )

i have mine long but im used to them ... so i wouldnt go to long and id defoo try before the big day as you will be very wary of them to begin with

thank you for the advice girls :) i dont think i could have them too long so will start off shortish and see how i go. i like the idea of tapered, i have a few months so if i have them done today and dont like them i have got time to try slightly different, and go from there. ive taken in everyones points and will be taking them all with me this afternoon lol
    thanks again :) x

well, had my nails done! i love them just getting used to them now. i had a full set of acrylics, i was going to have white tips but went for pearl. i have seen people having their nails done and they stick out and look really false but mine look quite real. i didnt have them too long as i dont think i could manage them. had gold diamante on my ring finger too. would take pic buti cant seem to get pics on here, will have to get my daughter to do it for me when she comes round lol
thanks for all your advice yesterday x

Hi im a beauty therapist/ nail technician and i would def go for gel they are a little bit more expensive but do less harm to your nails then acrylic and if you already have long nails you can have a gel overlay on top of your own nails good luck hun x
