In a little dilemma here peeps - we are frantically saving EVERY spare penny we have for our wedding (which isn't a massive affair) but for what I have estimated, our savings will cover the wedding and hen/stag do's with VERY little left for a honeymoon. As we have lived together for 7 years we have everything we need and were planning on asking for contributions towards our honeymoon for wedding gifts.
HOWEVER, the problem lies with what we do about booking one. I am about to qualify as a teacher so will only start earning proper money in Sept (hopefully) and will only have the 6 weeks hols (5 after the wedding) to go away. My H2B however will only have 2 weeks off over the summer and we're debating whether to just book a late deal with the money we may get or go away for the weekend after our wedding and save the 'proper' honeymoon for later on (which will probably be the following easter / summer)
any advice?

You could maybe get a cheap-ie late deal which may work out the same as a few nights in a posh UK hotel and you could save up even more to have a mega honeymoon the following year?

Yes perhaps have a mini-moon as they call it after the wedding and then a proper honeymoon for your anniversary. Will give you time to save and something big to look forward to the following year :D

I'm a teacher and we're getting married at Easter. So we'll only be having a short European break (mini-moon) straight after the wedding and then in the summer we'll be having our honeymoon somewhere more exotic. Ryhope17's idea sounds good :o)
Which KS are you training to teach?

it would be nice not to rush it.... take a 'mini moon' as someone said and when funds are released do it properly
cant wait to be Mrs Evans less than 3 weeks woooo
start weight 10st 1.5 lbs
weight now 8st 4.5 lbs
total loss to date: 24.5 lbs now need to maintain!
Yeah thanks peeps, probably what we'll have to do...don't want to count on £££'s if we only get 50 quid ha! and I like the idea of having 2 honey... heehee (love this one!)
Tinsel - I'm Primary so KS1 & 2...went back to Uni part time (4 years ago) and it's been THE hardest 4 years of my life as I've been working 2 jobs alongside it! CANNOT wait to finish...graduate in July and think it'll be the best day of my life (until my wedding date that is!) = Just saw your wedding date too and that was our original date, as limited by school hols.

With 3 kids we are having our honeymoon (or in this case a familymoon) at a later date as well and just having two nights at the venue instead!

i too am in the same boat of only being able to go away in the school holidays ..... we are getting married abroad in april 2012 (easter holidays) having a UK ceremony june 2012 ( half term +bank holiday) and going on honey moon in the summer holidays
we will be asking for money towards a honeymoon and booking a late deal as all family friends are coming to the UK ceremony ,i think that unless you have a set place you want to go this will work quite well
We are doing the same as Hails (we also have 3 kids lol) we are going to have a minimoon (possible Lake Windermere) and then we will have a familymoon at a later date hopefully with the wishing well contributions xx

Thats a nice idea Hails - we don't have children (just 1 cat! heehee) but it would be nice to stay in the hotel for the weekend maybe instead of having to check out the next day and just come home
