Okay, we have 4 babies coming to the wedding age 6-9 months at the time and two toddlers 18-20 months. There are only 3 highchairs available. I have two problems. Do I say no highchairs for babies as they wont be eating and hope parents are okay with them being in carseats or do I say toddlers on booster seats even though I know one is a very small toddler and wouldnt work (they are more likely to eat than babies also) Even then we would need to find another highchair.
If i do go for babies in highchairs do they count as a number around my tables as the highchair would technically take up a space? Im having trouble putting people in groups of 8 and 10 around tables as requested by the venue and from a selfish point of view it would be easier not to put babies around the tables. I do however have a child and know that this isnt always convenient for the parent.
    Any Advice?

Toddlers in highchairs, babies not! They don't need a high hair in general at 6-9 months xx

My daughter used to sit on a chair at 18 months and my 7 month old son sits in a high chair and eats solids so.....
I don't know why don't you ask them to bring a high chair if they can x

Also my son wont sit in his pram or Car seat if I didn't have a high chair for him he'd have to sit on my knee and that wouldn't be great if I was eating :/ I don't think high chairs class as a seat though but you should ask your venue this x

We will have two 18 month olds coming and hopefully one of our own who would be less than 4 months. Our venue has a lot of highchairs available and the two 18 month olds will be in them. We won't be feeding them as we will ask parents to bring food for them. They count as numbers at the table, but not as numbers that are payable, children under 5 for us are free. If we have one by then, he or she will be in the pram with our friend who is a nanny.

Are your venue not liable to cater for children, ie if they don't have enough highchairs then they should have to source an extra one? X

Most people are travelling and staying in hotels then getting taxis to the venue. Getting a highchair in a taxi isnt going to be practical. I think I will just have to find an extra highchair. I suppose I could take my sons up the day before although that leaves us without a highchair for a few days. This may be the only way though. I dont want people spilling food on themselves because they are trying to balance the baby and eat at the same time. Its really not fun! I will email the venue and see if they count towards table numbers.

Under 2's are free but having an 18 month old son I would usually give him some of our meal as would my friend with the other toddler. I know 6month olds go in a highchair but they wont be eating a "meal" like the toddlers.

Babies that age definitely need a high chair. My son is 8 months old and uses his high chair for 3 meals a day. A baby is easier to feed on your lap than a toddler. Although, not ideal if your trying to eat yourself.

It totally depends on the baby though. My son is crawling, pulling himself up and cruising. He will grab food or anything within arms reach so having him on your lap isn't a good idea with crockery, cuttlery and drinks around. He also doesn't have a car seat that could be taken out of the car easily for him to just sit in, he'd hate being stuck in a seat too. Xx

I think id just let peopel know the situation.... perhaps see who would be willing to feed their kid in a pram. i know mine would of been fine with that when she was a baby

probbaly best for toddlers in high chairs though as they will be the ones wanting to get off their seats...

I would say they sll need a high chair, my daughter was eating solids from 5 months!
The venue should have more high chairs than this, i mean most people invite family with young children to weddings!
