Hi everyone i am looking into taking Acai berry supplements now it is 2 months away from the wedding just to give me an extra boost. Now i am not a fan of diet pills etc as think you get the body you want with hard work and lifestyle changes but from what i have read this is more than just a diet pill it's good for you in many other ways.

Does anyone have any thoughts/ knowledge on this? has anyone tried it?

Also i am reading conflicting advice about if i can use it while breastfeeding or not? My daughter is 16 months so only has 2-3 feeds a day usually morning and evening and some atricles have written that it's great for babies for the extra antioxidants and some say it's not reccomended so am confused! can anyone shed any light? Breastfeeding comes first without a doubt but i am at the point now where if i wanna gud few drinks (not very often at all) i will still feed her the next time i see her and it does not cause a problem and i eat what i want and it never has an effect on her so just wondered about peoples thoughts on it all?

    Thanks in advance x

Ive been on Acai berry tablets for a while they work really well if you stick to the diet, when i got them they sent out a list of what you can and cant eat with them i lost a 1-2lb everyday but have since slipped from the plan lol.
i had no side effects from taking them so worth a try, not sure about the breast feeding would probably be best to check with a doctor or midwife first.

From reading various information about Acai berries it seems that they are just another fad with scientifically unproven results.
You would probably get as good, if not better results from drinking green tea, which has proven weight loss claims and is a LOT cheaper. You can get green tea in different flavours too from the supermarket.

Madison - you would probably find you lost weight by just sticking to 'the plan' and not taking the pills.

Acai berry didnt work for me tbh ladies.
I take water tablets daily which help.
I would suggest Dr Stuarts Slim plus tea. Jane did really well and so did I (although nowhere near Janes weight loss) drinking these, and cheaper than the acai berry supplements.
Since getting engaged in April 2010 until last week I had lost 1lb off of 3 stone.
Thats zumba twice a week (although not for the last 3 months as moved house) cut out on too many carbs. Tried to be sensible, still have the odd drink and bad food. All about staying focused and doing it for the right reasons.
If there is a 'slimming clinic' near you then get their water tablets as stronger than the norm. Or even go for phentermine slimming tablets whilst there.
If desperate and can go without food do the Cambridge diet (Not lighter life) for 2 weeks, depending on your size you'll estimate loosinig 10lb ish in the first week and 3/7lb the following.
Mates on it and in the last 3 weeks has lost heaps of weight.
Dont get me wrong its a quick fix and not for long term.
I also have colonic done every 6 months and that shifts about 5/7lb on average a time for me.
    loves

    Hope this helps.

My h2b took Acai berries for a while. He said they made him feel like he'd had a few cups of extra strong coffee also he had some large spots come up on his face which disappeared once he stopped taking them. He did say they suppressed his appetite but didn't think they were worth it.

lol, sorry Stave... Been there done that and know how to do the 'quick' fix!
TBH if you reduce portion sizes your stomach will shrink, then in time you will eat less as will be full quicker.
Also to drink water when eating as that bloats you out too and stops fdeeling hungry and doesnt want to eat much..

I also have the milk diet that the obese clinic at the hospitals give obese people 4 weeks before they go into surgery.
Weight loss on that too, if you like milk.

They didnt work for me either, mind you i find diets only work while you are on them as soon as you divert off slightly weight goes back on, well for me that happend. So all i do is cut down on fatty/sugary foods, eat plenty of fruit and veg and drink lots of water instead of coffee/tea, have a couple of cups a day, im a sucker for chocolate and i found before cutting it out was worse than actually saying ok well ill just have a small bar or a couple of chunks, i know the old willpower thing but i have and although it took me a year i lost over a stone, got a picture of me on holiday last year in my swimming costume on the inside of the choccy cupboard and its not a pretty sight but if i lapse and end up wanting chocolate that pic is there to make me think. Will step it up as i get closer to the wedding though. Ive heard about the properties of green tea have got a few flavours in the kitchen will have to make habit of having some.

Te**o sell Dr Stuarts and it was brill. I have just become sick of it as drank it for 5 months solid, lol!
now in my eyes I dont call it a diet. I am healthy eating and want to be healthier for the rest of my life.
I feel the word diet means I can cheat... Where as healthy eating you can have the odd treat but in moderation and up my game after.
I have slowed down on the intake of carbs and been sensible. Dont drink at the mo either, although had 2 glasses of red on Sunday night and wole at 2.30am feeling very hungover!! WTF!!!!!

How much do you pay for a Colonic Karlie and would you say it's worth it for more than weight loss reasons?

I am a size 12-14 and have already lost a stone through diet an exersize and kept that off in the last few months even though i went off the diet track a lot during my mates hen night and sisters birthday etc etc. I am quite tall so weight around 12 stone atm. i would like to lose another stone probably and tone up. the toning up i know i can do with hard work at the gym but i find i get bloated easily so wondered if a supplement would help shed the bloat and a bit of exess weight?

I am gonna look into green tea and the slim plus tea and see if its safe for me etc

Thanks for your advice ladies anymore is welcome too as like u say it shouldnt just be for my wedding but for my lifestyle as a whole. just find it difficult living with just my daughter as my partner works away and i work a lot of nights as a midwife so find it difficult not to overeat when having to stay up both day and nightime when i dont have childcare! oooh get me i sound like am right hard done to and am definitly not!

going to body pump tonight for the first time so that shud be gud!!

and btw i already fit in my dress so at least i aint got that pressure!! just wanna look healthier with less of a bloat and nicer skin and hair!!

you can take trapped wind tablets too, they are great for the bloated ness but it is mainly caused by too much water retention and/or over eaten.
Look out for colonic on grou**n website as always do offers. My inital one was £80 but I always look out for offers, so bought the next 2 for £30.
Everyone is different and some might only loose 1lb, but watching it and then not feeling uncomfortable after its fab. Best not to go anywhere the evening of having it done mind you, you might get a bit of wind. But for me personally it works and I did used to eat a lot of red meat and red meat can store up to 7 months in your body. Apparently our bodies dont digest it as easy as other foods.
I NEVER used to eat wheat and was told by the lady that did the colonic to try and introduce it. I started to get stomach cramps and/or indigestion from it (mainly cereals) so dont eat them much anymore. Twice a week mostly.

Well done on the weight loss MrsC2b. you are right, it is a lifestyle thing. Dont get me wrong I used to be a huge drinker when first got together with his royal highness but slowly and surely weened off, however have the odd tipple now and then, just dont drink and eat bad things for the sake of them being there.

oh booooo. I bought some acai this weekend - lured in by advertising. :( Am flippin well gonna take them now since I've spend £15 on them! but I guess I wont expect much. They do seem to be giving me a bit of a *ahem* clearout though.... will see what happens....... Can't drink green tea. tried it lots, but missed normal tea too much. perhaps I'll try the slim tea if you think its good... I'll look next time I'm in the big supermarket with a t...!

I wanted to try a colonic - bit scared though, don't fancy the idea of bareing my bottom and having a pipe stuck up it...! ha ha sorry..... :-S

I tried them and they did nothing for me. I have heard that going for a 'good clear out' with the use of a little suction helps with weight loss. A friend had it done just before her wedding and she said she felt great afterwards for having it done.

I tried 100% acai capsules along with colon detox capsules. I had a 30 day supply and for the first 15 days I was more eye of the needle than eye of the tiger (if you know what I mean). By the end of the 30 days I had lost 1lb so decided it wasn't worth the toilet paper. I'm only a size 10 anyway but getting frustrated by the wobbly part of my tummy that never disappears no matter how much excercise I do be it cardio or toning. I can feel muscle under the flab but it just won't shift.

I've heard friends of mine who are size 14-16 have lost up to a stone with acai but then I feel it might be a placebo quality that makes them think that their appetite is surpressed when it's just down to the fact that they've taken something that is supposed to do this.

It annoys me when people are desperately trying to lose weight and somebody pipes up with "the only way to do it is to cut down portions and do more exercise". At one point I was running for an hour twice a week and doing body pump classes twice a week and it made no difference. I'm not a big fan of chocolate but I am a huge fan of fruit and veg so I hardly eat like a pig.

I hope you find something that works hun and feel beautiful on your big day. xx

I used to to body pump, body attack and body combat every week. So 3 sessions a week, and I lost nothing!! Yes I started to tone up, but I didnt lose any weight. Then I started doing spinning once a week too, so was at the gym 4 times a week. This was before I went to police college. i thought I was doing the right things to get my fitness up. BUT OH NO! got to police college and felt SO unfit. Spoke to the PTI who said those classes are rubbish for getting your stamina and cardio levels up (apart from spinning). He said I would have been better doing spinning or running 4 times a week with a little bit of strength training before or after my session.

So when i got back from police college I started a proper programme at the gym, but to get results you have to go at least 3 times a week. The weight fell off pretty quick and my fitness was pretty darn good. I also did spinning once a week too.

That was a few years ago and now however I cant be bothered with the gym, so am healthy eating and smaller portion sizes to get the weight off. (Slimming world!).

    Don't do it!

It's generally a waste of money....the berries (along with anything else that claims to help weight loss) have no magic properties to make you lose weight. If you read the back of any weight loss aid packet you will see it says something along the lines of "take in conjunction with a healthy diet and exercise". Its not the tablets or mircle patches that will help you lose the weight but the diet and exercise they recommend you do along side.

Sorry folks there is no magic answer the secret is...

....don't eat too many calories (average 2000 a day for a women) and exercise, yes i know its boring but its true!

    Shirlygirly:
Do you drink lots of fizzy pop, caffeine or eat anything high in sugar or sweeteners? That normally accounts for the flabby bit on the tummy. I cut out diet coke as I was pretty much addicted and so far I have lost an inch on my belly as a result. But this area as well as the tops of your thighs are the hardest place to lose the flab. Good luck though x

I've tried the Dr Stuarts tea as well and did not really get on with them. Still have them so might try them again seeing as I am doing more exercise as well. When I went running on Wednesday evening, one of the more hard core women there said she has been running since January and has lost 2 stone in weight without changing her diet at all.

@MrsWard.2b yes I do drink caffeine as I have around 3 cups of coffee a day and a cup of tea. I'm going to try to cut that out then to see if it helps. To be fair I have noticed that the flab has lessened since wearing my hotpants but now they have a hole in them and I'm waiting for a replacement. Thanks for the advice hun, I'll see if it works or will I just be a mardy bum without my coffe fix. x

I take sea kelp tablets which work by increasing thyroid function. although I'm so faddy with them I don't know whether they do more harm than good. and to be honest I've been losing weight on my own lately without even thinking about it or trying. My poor diet seems to work for me. I'm a total sugar fiend and live on snacks and caffeine drinks. I put alot of weight on when I quite smoking in feb but have since started smoking again which obviously has reduced my appetite. Obviously not advertising any one take it up, horrible habit. I really must stop again.

I must be crazy giving myself only 6 months!
