    Hi,
We really would like a week away after the wedding as its very rare we get time alone (those with kids will understand this!)
The children will be 8 & 5 and both be at school with my Mum looking after them
Just cant seem to find a beach holiday, for a week in September (we are not fussy on dates) under £2000!
We ideally would like to spend no more than £1k!
Has anyone else found themselves in this predicament?

Places like Turkey & Spain are only about £500 each averagely!

    Have you tried travelsupermarket x

Most places that are doing cheapish holidays aren't taking bookings yet so I've been looking for this year as a guestimate price. Any country in particular?
Try ice lolly they are quite cheap.

    Not fussy on country either.
Europe seems the sensible option as we are only going for 7 nights
Dont fancy spending 2 days jet lagged!
Travel supermarket, will try that now thanks
I looked on ice lolly but they were late deals only it seemed
Its hard to get a price for Sept 2013 as they are not released yet so im having to go by 2012 prices to get an idea

Why don't you look for somewhere all inclusive? My friend went to Tenerife last year on an all inc and it only cost them £1000 for a week as they got a special book early and pay 50% deposit deal. It was a lovely hotel and ideal for their then 2 (now 3) year old. They're going back after our wedding with their son and 8 month old daughter.

i would say turkey, spain, malta (malt is a beautiful place) and some hotels are tucked away enough for you too feel really alone but still have all the excitement and bussle of a busy place ....

    also try egypt! :)

also i would suggest tellytext holidays... i booked a holiday for me and my hubby to be a while back to turkey and it cost £450 for the both of us all inclusive 5 star hotel !! with transfer!

also i know you said not to far away me and hubby to be went to america in november .. to florida had flights and a ten person villa for in total 1100 :) you just need to keep looking but i do advised teletext ... got my hen weekend in magaluf for 3 nights 4 full days all inclusive hotel for less then 200 with flights!! :)

good luck and let us know how you get on!! :) xx

i got engaged in malta! haha i went in june and it was lush!!

and we hired a speed boat (no lisence required) even though the hubby to be is a sailor so he took control lol

and went and visited the smaller islands around, gozo and another one! they are perfect honeymoon destinations... we was going to go there for our honeymoon! but as hubby to be spent most of last year between malta and libya he didnt want to go back around their for honeymoon lol...

so we decided on a place his never been!! (which is hard as his in the navy) and we decided on thailand but it was over 3 grand and we got fifty per cent off so was ment to be 6 grand! lol xx

    Wow, sounds great!!!

I have just found a lovely little hotel, All inclusive 7 nights and flying from Luton so nice close smaller airport for £564 for both of us!!!
Just had a littel check on trip advisor and the only thing i can see people moaning about is the hotel is more geared for the Germans but that does not bother me!
Its Ibiza, Cala portinatx which is the quiet end of Ibiza.
Its on the beach too which is a big plus for us!

    OOOOOOH im excited!!!!!!

We like to go to places we've not been before but there is always the worry of it not being as good as we expected! We know we dont wanna spend much, but we want it to be a bit special and not somewhere we would of gone as a family.

i would say Turkey or Egypt as they are cheap to get to especially Turkey and are not in the euro so not as expensive when you are there.

i have been to both and i def prefer Turkey and the flight time for both isnt too bad xx

I'd defo second looking at teletext hols. We got a bargain 2 years ago for my birthday which is in December to Egypt for a weel all inc for about £300 each! Ok, so the resort stated it was 5* but I would say it was nearer a 3*, but the service was good and we only really used it as a base to do day trips etc.
Also, I went to Malta with my mum about 5 years ago and wouldn't say it was for the older generations. We went end April/beginning of may and it was lovely weather - we even got sunburnt! People are lovely and so helpful there and there is so much history.
Selecting your honeymoon destination is sooooo exciting! All the best with it x

Does the £1k include spending money? If so, it will be trickier, but still do-able. It's my birthday in Sept and we're looking at going away for a week, and I've found self-catered 7 night breaks to the following destinations for under £230 p: Portugal; Costa del Sol; Majorca; Turkey; Greece; Canary Islands. I've also found 7 nights B&B in Morocco for about £330 pp, and 7 nights all inc in Egypt for around £400 pp.

My advice would be to check out price comparison sites like travelsupermarket, as well as the major tour operators like Thomas Cook, and also price up flights and accommodation yourself (eg check out Easy Jet for flights, then search travelsupermarket for accommodation).

It's def doable; if you spend say £250 on a week's 4* self catered accommodation in somewhere like Spain, that will leave you with £250 spending money which will be more than enough; we went last year for 3 nights and spend just £100, and for that we bought food and drink and toiletries for our apartment, ate out all 3 nights, and drank out too.

French Riviera (I'm thinkng Nice) might be an option. I'm also pro Malta- lovely place, very safe, lots of history, easy to get to.

If you're going to book any time soon, I would avoid Greece. With them missing the deadline this afternoon and the risk of them leaving the euro, a lot of businesses over there will be going bust. You certainly don't want one to be your hotel! Just not worth the hassle.

We went to a 4* in Turkey for 14 nights £350per person, all inclusive - absolute bargain and had an amazing time but we booked 3 weeks before we were going so sometimes pays to wait if your not fussy where and that was through Teletext holidays. This year we are looking at Sharm for a week, all inclusive for about £500 each. There are some bargains out there or maybe wait until next January as also of places have sales on xxx

O i see what you mean - to be fair i wouldnt trust any travel company nowadays as Thomson were facing trouble last year so you never know. I always book on a credit card and then pay it straight off so at least your credit company will cover you if the company goes bust or make sure you got travel insurance.

well, we did pay by credit card but they refused to pay out unless the CAA refused to pay out and i had written proof.
I kept ringing them and writing and eventually i got the flight cost back which was £400 but i was still down £1000! and my credit card wouldnt pay out which is annoying

so many travel companies have gone bust and the thing with teletext holiday companies is normally they are out sourcing so the flights/accomodation is with different companies and they put it together if that makes sense and if one part goes bust you lose the other bit as well

hope i have explained that properly xx
