Im sitting in work and decided to phone my reception venue as i wanted the room size so i could maybe hire an indoor marquee when they tell me that they never received our booking and its now been booked out by another couple!! Im ragin but upset at the same time. I now need to rethink my entire wedding :( does anybody know of any wedding venues that allow outside caterers in near glasgow? xx

That's a bugger.... did you not pay a deposit when you booked? Most companies make you pay a deposit as soon as ya book... Hope you manage to find the perfect venue soon.... On the plus side.... you have tons of time.... you've got 21months.... that's ages.... I'm sure you'll find something hun x

Is the date an absolute?? Maybe you could strike a deal and change your's the week before/after and then get mega discount. Haha, their fault if they double booked. (U just have to remember to seem like the date was v.important for sentimental reasons, but as a push you could change it, Maybe you remember sentimental reasons for getting married there too??)

as far as i no there is no reason you wouldnt have to pay a deposit even throu the building is listed ........go back and look at any paper work, did you make copies of anything ?
then definately complain as if you sent recorded delivery you should have all the evidence. did u keep the reciept? xx

thats rotten hen. i hope you get it sorted. where was the venue. there are loads of lovely places in and around glasgow, we're getting married in dalmeny park country house totel..it's beautiful. have a look on their website. xx

could you not change the date at all by a week? its still a while of hun so plenty of time for people with regards to hols etc
CommentAuthorJane
I would take your recorded delivery slip in to them and get very cross. Tell them youve sent out save the dates and you have stuff ordered with their details on it, invitations etc. Youve fulfilled everything that was asked of you, you shouldnt be put in this position by them. Good job you rang them up to ask something though, imagine if you had left it till a few months before the wedding... nightmare.

Hey don't worry you'll sort it! My friend had her wedding at Chaterelault in Hamilton then Hamilton Town House with Outside caterers - this was gorgeous! Not sure if that's near you but town halls can be lovely - rutherglen's supposed to be nice too! Or you could try the two universities - Glasgow uni and The Barony Hall in Strathclyde x

He may be able to get you an email address too x

i dont suppose by any chance you kept the receipt from when you sent the forms recorded delivery? coz if you get the barcode off it you can type it on royal mail website and get the name and signature of the person that signed for it x
