New to the site and already addicted!!

My H2B and I are looking at Pittodrie house to get married either next year or 2013. Can anyone advise if they have been married or attended a wedding there and if it was any good?

We have just booked our wedding there! 20th September 2012! we have been out a few times and even stayed there before we decided to get it all confirmed. The girls are really nice and have been extremely helpful so far!! We are having the whole day there, haven't actually been to a wedding there before but have seen it set out etc during there open days. xxx

Jen, we were looking at the 14th but not sure if that date is still available or not - may have to go have a look this weekend - just need to persuade the H2B!!

Also I have heard that they offer incentives if you book there and then so hopefully we will get a good deal

Hhhmm it only says Wedding and Events team at the bottom of the email but if we do decide to get married there I will make sure that it's not Emma that we get

I really like Meldrum House too, my mum was just recently at a wedding there and it was held in the marquee, she said it was really nice however she did get a bit cold as she was sitting next to the entrance - that was in May

I wanted the last saturday in may as at meldrum house they have a minumum of 100 guests for a june july and august wedding which we dont have but could easily get but thats not in the budget lol. So i had sent meldrum a email asking them and thats when they said they dont have any friday or saturdays left in may and have a couple in June and april i think it was a few weeks ago that they said that anyway and thats for 2013!!!!

Well we're plannign on getting married in Udny Church which is down the road from us then heading to the hotel and we was thinking we could get married next year but it was goin g to have to be a thursday which we wasnt keen about then we looked at our finances again and were thinking its best to wait till 2013 so hoping we can save up our deposit asap and get a friday or saturday wedding!!!!

Is that for pittodrie house hotel?

Don't worry Clarabella the time will soon fly past. Can your parents not help out at all?? My mum keeps hassling me to let her know the venue price as she has said that they are paying for it!!

My mum cant really afford to help us but i know she will later on when its coming closer as she did that with my sister. I think she paid for my sisters dress as well as other bits and pieces but as for h2bs parents well they say they "are always skint" but i really find that hard to believe when his dad forks out £40 for a toilet roll holder for his brand new bathroom????? I dont really want their help but it is really annoying when they say they are skint when they are clearly not. They live in westhill and are both retired from very good jobs. I really wish i liked my in laws to be but i dont well my fil2b isnt bad but my sil2b is a bitch and i really hate her anyway in rabbitting on sorry

Lol matthew came home on saturday after he just been at his parents house and he just told me his dad has been busy in his garden and has spent a fortune on it but he's "skint"????? grrrrrr.

He even told me that now im back to work after beening off on maternity leave matthew is looking after our daughter in the afternoons so he told his parents that as we only have the one car its hard for us to get out to them to visit as we live about 20 miles away and we also live in the middle of nowhere in the country which i dont mind but then he also told me that his sister is due to go off on maternity leave soon and she said to stop her getting bored shes going to spend all her time with my daughter!!!! I wasnt impressed when he told me that. I feel like shes using my daughter as a gunie pig for her for when she has her kid. I know shes her auntie but i really dont like her and i dont want her around my daughter when im not there.

Matthew want us to spend more time with just the 2 of us which i understand cos i do want that as well but now i am working again i feel like im not seeing my daughter as much even though im with her all morning. I think im a very clingy mum and i appart from leaving her with her dad she only been with 2 of my sisters at different times and i was in tears with that so i really dont trust his parents his mum has altzheimeirs and im worried for my daughter. Ive heard that she may get violet with people so im worried for my daughter. Ive told matthew already about my worries and he said he would take to his dad about it before we leave her but he's also said he doesnt know what to say to him. He talked to his sister and she said she'd pop in to check up on them but she cant be there all the time and i dont want her with my daughter either but if it keeps my daughter a bit safer then that would be better but i still dont want to leave her with them

Bex - Ye we were the same, not religious at all but pittodrie is so beautiful for the whole day!! you started to organise anything else?

Clarabella - how horrible not getting on with your in-laws. I had this with my ex's parents, they just didnt seem to like me but completely different story with my H2B family! they are lovely and what a difference it makes. perhaps in time it will improve. I also don't have children yet but i agree with bex if you explain to matthew how you feel about it, does he fell the same? xxx

I really want to go try dresses on!!! Im half tempted to have my sil2b as a bridesmaid just so i can make her wear something really horrible lol

I was in a few weeks ago to brides delight! very hungover and only actually went in to look at bridemaid dresses!!! they ended up having a free appoinment, next thing I know I am trying on dresses lol very strange experience! i had taken a couple if cut outs with me but turns out what i really like doesnt suit me that much! I keep going back to the very first one I tried on, it was beautiful and nothing like what i thought I would go for! tried it on again before I left and my H2B phoned me when I was in it! (perhaps this is a sign! lol) I have a couple of appointments on the 30th to try on a few more before I decide and I need to find my bridemaid dress! but like you Bex I am hoping to wait for the sales :) xxx

La Orr is the place I am going!! They stock Impression dresses which I really like (but a bit too pricey!!)

Jen I think a lot of people at finding the same thing with dresses. I think you really have to go in with an open mind and try lots of different styles on

sorry been away all weekend and just back on here! where is La Orr? I have got leaflets from them before but not had a proper look!

No not yet but really need to get it sorted! :( I have assigned this job to stuart but looks like i will end up doing it lol Have looked at a few but they have either bee far too expensive or not available! we are after about a half hour or so of celidh then for the band to play a set. Have a loook at Referendum they werent avaible on our date :( but we liked the sound of them. I have been recommended 5th Avenue but havent had a proper look at them, em Pepperpot as well. We had a browse on the net and found a few we liked down glasgow/edinburgh way but due to travel it shoots the cost right up! Have you looked at anyone?

which photographer have you looked at? we have went with Nick Frost, really quite expensive but I love his stuff and I think its something worth spending the moeny on

Havent heard of Aquarius but will check them out, Nick Frost recommended Last Resort but stuart wasnt keen on them for some reason. I think we really need to see people playing! my friend went to a band showcase type thing when she got married where you could hear lots of bands playing but i havent been able to find anything like that going on.

I know it is really steep isnt it! I emailed then we went for a meeting with him and he was lovely. it gives you a chance to look at all his albums etc (which are beautiful by the way!) you do get a book with a copy of all your images in it, means you cant print them but at least you would have them. I didn't look at many more photographers tbh but Scott Hogg was one I looked at briefly and also Sam Brill was one I thought about (and saw through fbook)

Went dress shopping yesterday, it was sooo much fun and I think I have found 'the one' (burst into tears when I tried it on lol) the only thing is that it is a bit out my budget, she says that I can pay it up so will have to have a little think as to what to do : /

I went to La'Orr Boutique, they were so friendly and I didn't feel pressured at all. I have emailed them to see if there are any other dresses in the same style but a bit cheaper as I'm not sure I can justify spending £950 on a dress. They both loved it too which makes things a lot harder if I decide not to go for it. I emailed another stockist asking how much it was there but I can't see it being too much different in price : / xx

That's the thing, I did tell her my budget of around £500 however I did say that I would spend a bit more for 'the one' - didn't really mean that much more. Going back on the 13th with one bridesmaid and I am going to try a few more cheaper ones on to see how I feel. She has said that if I buy the bridesmaids dresses there too then she can give me a bit of a discount but couldn't tell me exactly until she knew the prices of the dresses. I might be cheeky and ask if there is a sale coming up soon that it will be included in lol
The only good thing is that I can pay it up so at least that way it won't feel like I am paying that amount for it. Both sets of parents have said that they will help out so depending on how much they want to give will help me decide if I can afford it or not. Luckily found the shoes that I really liked for £15 cheaper online - not much but every little helps lol xx
