hey all,,,,not bin on here for a while have being very busy what with tryin to organise a wedding, working and having 2 small children 1 of which i have had to prepare for her ''''''''''''''''' 'big school' nxt week.
anyway everything on the wedding front seemed to be going so well in talk with the venue about the reception timingswhat we would get etc...........got an email the other day pricing it all up and to mine my h2b and dads horror it would cost more than having a 3 course meal ( opting for a buffet for many of reasons)
now however me and h2b are really struggling to find somewhere nice, cheap as possible ( tight budget) and possibly option to self cater ( many friends and family in catering business helps us save on costs) in leeds area.
cant seem to find anywhere that would allow us to self cater....
any help would be hugely appreciated xxx

Do you need the venue for the ceremony or just the reception. If just the reception then village halls, sports clubs, boat clubs most of these sorts of places are cheap and will let you self cater. My friend who got married recently had her reception at a beautiful village hall in the country with a huge decked area and a big field. To hire it all day and have the bar staffed all day cost her the grand total of £25!!! It was gorgeous and all the money they saved meant they could fill the field with fun stuff like bouncy castles and a stage for the live band.

I agree with using village halls, sport clubs, boat clubs, etc as the allow you to self cater and save you loads. There is a lovely place in the Peak District that allows you to rent out the house, self cater, & accommodation. It advertises on this site but it's probably too far south for you :(

Where abouts in Leeds are you Rachel? Have you tried Woodkirk Valley Country Club? We thought of there originally but then finished up getting married in Gretna Green lol.

They have a few rooms for weddings and parties and are licenced for weddings as well. You can get them to cater for you or there is an option to cater yourself. The location is between Leeds and Dewsbury, about 5 minutes drive from the White Rose Centre going towards Dewsbury.

Another option is social clubs..? They usually let you cater yourself - we had our local club for our evening reception once we were back in Leeds.

How about a cricket club? I know there are quite a few around Leeds that hire out for parties etc. I know a couple of people who have hired Whitkirk Cricket Club and I think they catered themselves.
