So technically I have no guests at my wedding lol

There is my parents, H2B's mum and our long time friends who are a couple who are our witnesses. We have rented a castle on a self catering basis for 2 weeks (It's a small 5 bedroomed tower castle) in Scotland which means we have been able to put all the wedding party up for a few days and the wedding meal Wedding breakfast in Scotland) is round the corner at a lovely mansion just for us 7.

Many think I am strange but it has been so nice to be able to consider and treat each one of them individually. Anyone else gone down the intimate route? any regrets?

I do have unhappy grandparents and a unhappy sister and nieces and nephews but I think my family knew it would always be this way with me.

That would be ideal for me and H2B due to mainly my side of the family being a massive pain with no one getting on really!

I am really excited about it!
At the evening do of a friend recently the wedding gifts had to be looked after "securely" because her hubbys family where not to be trusted!!

I don't get the whole conforming thing in terms of having to have this guest etc and luckily H2B is just as antisocial hah!!

We thought of doing something similar, but my parents had a rather messy divorce so it wouldn't have worked for us - whilst they both will be civil and get on for one day, I wouldn't like to have them spend more then that together! And I wouldn't have felt right getting married with only one of them there.

It's a shame because I would have loved to do something like that, small and intimate xx

It sounds like a great idea. I think if I'd had the cash I'd have done something like it. I bet you will have the best 2 weeks!
Are you having the wedding near the begining of your stay or near the end?

Loving the wedding in the desert!

The wedding is Thursday of our first week, we have invited them to stay from anytime between Monday and Friday. All in, including the honeymoon we are looking at a maximum of £5k. That's including the castle, ceremony, photographer, dress, hair, makeup and a slap up 5 course meal for us all so can't complain really.

We are having no guests at all at our ceremony due to underlying family issues & cost (people wouldn't pay for themselves to come abroad) & we always wanted a beach wedding!!
We are just going to have some sort of party when we get back to keep family happy!!

    Xx

Seriously considering it, as we both have MASSIVE families. I think it will upset a lot of people, but with our extremely tiny budget - and the fact I may only be hiring a 21-foot yurt for the ceremony - it seems sense!

I would have gladly done that for our wedding, but hubby convinced me that we should invite family at least, given that I'm an only child lol.

In the end we got married at Gretna Green and just invited close family (my parents, hubby's dad and stepmum, brother and gran and a few close cousins/partners and my aunty). In the end there was 19 of us. We had our reception meal in the hotel restaurant (exclusive use) then spent the evening in the hotel bar with our own CD's and late bar. I was so glad we didn't have a big wedding (but suppose it's personal choice).

We got married in Vegas and had just 8 guests. My mum and her friend flew out the day after we did and left the day after the wedding to go to San Francisco. My MoH lives in SF, so she flew in 2 days before the wedding day so we could spend 'my last day of freedom' with her whilst my man and his 3 mates were off on his stag do. Very unexpectedly, my dad's cousin and his wife came along - I've not seen them in well over 10 years, but they made it perfect.
It was so lovely to be able to actually spend time with everyone. When we had the reception back in the UK, I didn't even get to speak to everyone, even though there were only about 90 people inc. children!
I wouldn't have had our wedding day any other way :)

Were getting married abroad as we want a beach wedding with gorgeous weather. There is only going to be us two and my mum. Were taking my mum and paying for her as she has done a hell of alot for me. She is only going for a week and were going for 2 as having the honeymoon at the same time.

When we get back were having an evening reception for the rest of the family and close friends.
