Hey everyone can anyone tell me if you can get married in any catholic church even if it's nit the one in your area or the one you attend? And also do you have to pay to get married in a church?
You have to pay to get married in church, i have been told that a Catholic church is the same, however if you attend sevices for so many weeks before you dont need to pay, not sure though if that is the same across the country or anything

I was under the impression that with Catholic churches you just offered a donation if you attend there, not sure about one that isn't in your area, best to get in touch with the priest of your local one and ask. As far as C of E churches, I think it varies but still costs around £500, ours is £550. x

i dont know about catholic churches but You have to do something to get married in a church thats not in you rparish i think, im not certain but some form or something and maybe something about it helps if you have a link to the church as well :S and attending that church for X amount of services etc i think x
Although neither of us are religious we are getting married in a catholic church - I wanted to get married in the church my grandad is buried in so he can be there- but that isn't my local church. The priest has been so lovely and said it's fine but me and my boyfriend have to start going to his sunday service to show we are taking it seriously, he also wants to make a few home visits so we understand the commitment - I think really each priest does things differently and it's at their discretion so just get in contact and see what they say. Also, our priest said there is no charge but most couples donate around £50. Bargain- lol! x

The church i am getting married at is in kilmarnock, and the reception in ayr about 30 minutes or so away. I wouldn't get married in any other church except for the one in kilmarnock, as its where my grandparents got married and where i was baptised.

Our catholic church just want a donation. They can be really funny if u live outside the boundaries - although u get the occasional priest with a bit of compassion. They also expect u to attend as it was said above. x

Yea I'm baptised catholic I love my church cos its next to my old school etc and the priest is lovely too but it's right on a main road in a bit of a rough area and I just can't see myself getting married there I'm stressing cos having money problems too ATM and we're trying to cut costs in every way possible x
