Well, it looks like we will have to postpone our wedding indefanitly (SP)
OH may be about to loose her job :(
Her contract is changing without anyone working for the company being consulted on it, and she cant fill the new required availability etc, also theyre doing away with her job role as supervisor and sacking some, well they all have to reapply for thier jobs as team leaders, but there's 11 supervisors and only 5 team leader roles going :(

I cant find a job at all, so we may both become unemployed, not something we want.
I apply for around 12-20 jobs a month, and not even getting interviews. I hold no hopes of me finding a job anytime soon.

IF it has to be done then it has to be done, we arent splitting up or anything.
The only other option is have just myself OH and her parents as wtinesses with no ceremony at all, and then go for a cheap meal somewhere, but that wont feel right to either of us at all.

We got a tin moneybox that we cat open unless we use a can opener, and are going to try and put a fiver a week away, at that rate it should take us 200 weeks to save!

Hun surely that means she is being made redundant ..... tell her to call ACAS for advice

thats not good new, but like lala said if shes being made redundant then you should have a payout, definately call about advice, but hopefully she gets to keep her job - fingers crossed for you both x

I said to her that surely this is unfair dismissal, or whatever the correct term is for forced redundacny etc, no mentions of pay outs, just "you have to apply for other positions and you may not all be successfull"

We have IDEAS on everything sorted, have bought a few minor items, plims, one dress that turns out is in usa sizes NOT uk so thought i was getting a size 16 but is more like a 12, everything is planned.
The budget was only £899 anyway, but we have £5 saved! We have bought other small things, napkins, fake flickering candles, jems etc.

Just isnt looking good, and when working out how long it will take to save we have added a bit more to cover price increases that will no doubt happen.

Nothing else is paid for, venues, reception nothing like that.

I'm so sorry to hear this! I really hope your oh gets to keep her job. Chin up though, like you said you're not splitting up, you're just pushing back the wedding a bit xx

So sorry to hear that hun. Its so sickening when people who genuinely want to work and make the effort to apply yet dont even get so much as an interview. I really feel for you as my OH was made redundant twice in the space of 2 years. Good things happen to those who wait, just remember that! Maybe see if you can tweak you CV slightly or change your wording so it may sound slightly more appealing? Best of luck to the two of you xx

well i do leave out the 2 years off for depression and illness lol.
All i have ever done is nursing or management of retirment housing.... with no formal pc training too and being 35...

but my friend does have a business idea she has asked me in on, and hopefully it will pick up, it's a sensitive business area, but she knows I wont be prejudiced or insensitive etc. We're going to give it a go together, nothing to loose if it doesnt work out. Just finding out about tax, national insurance, and legalities etc.

At least we DO stil have each other!

We will sort somethng out somehow and no matter how dissapointed we both are at having to postpone I am sure we will manage it eventually. Might be another ten years but what the heck, we will get there in the end.

After the way they were over the wedding, her taking leave for your hospital appts etc, Id be glad to get away from that employer, all be it Id be out of a job. Something will come up for both of you, keep smiling and keep that lovely positive attitude of yours and you'll get your dream wedding one day :D xxx

It's hard to stay positive when you get a real knock like this so well done. Good luck with getting advice on the redundancy - speaking from experience it is always worth speaking to people who know the rules, as employers often chance their arms!
