So I was discussing things with my mother today about our wedding, and she and my dad are paying for my dress, veil, tiara etc. and shoes. Now, I'm not exactly into traditional weddings. I think they're lovely, but not for me. I'm wearing a white dress purely for the novelty that it's probably the only day in your life you get to wear a big white dress and get away with it. BUT, my dress is going to be floor length with a long train... so no one is going to see my shoes...
Me being me, I want to wear Iron Fist American Nightmare shoes (pics in my photo album) and my mother thinks this is "very me" but that maybe I should go for something more mainstream as on the day I might feel a little bit silly. But I don't want white satin heels, or diamante sandally things... I want bright red freaky shoes. Is that wrong?

I can't see your shoes becuase you are restricted but I defnintley do not think you should conform to white wedding shoes! I also refuse to wear them as I think most of them are severely ugly! I intend to wear a pair of irregualar choice (non-white) as I love these shoes, and they are more me, and I don't want to be change who I am just becuase it is my wedding day :)

Not at all wear what you want :) my sister wore a black and white dress with black and white trainers to match on her wedding day. She danced all night and didnt complain once about her feet hurting.

You profile seems to be restricted so I can't look at the pics, but I love Iron Fist. My wedding shoes are Irregular Choice, they're red swede with poka dot sections and have a little ladybird on each shoe. I just couldn't imagine wearing traditional wedding shoes on my wedding day.

Wear them. They are stunning and very very unique and as you said, nobody will know they are under there and it'll be your little bit of 'you' on a day where you might have to be conforming to tradition :)
I'm not wearing typical 'wedding' shoes... mine are electric blue. I don't like white shoes too much and now I have a lovely pair of shoes that -I- like and can wear again.

I love them! Definitely wear them! My shoes were purple, and I will definitely wear them again ... don't go for mainstream! You mum admitted that they're very you - why would you feel silly wearing them? And you'll be able to wear them again, when would you wear ivory satin shoes again?

Lol Ataraxia. I anticipate that's exactly what'll happen. My friend got married last year and had a Manchester United pin from like the 1960s on her garter. As soon as I got there, she was lifting up her dress to show me.
My thoughts exactly, MelN! I think my mum just wants me to consider things, I am highly impulsive at times. Lol.

i think you should wear them, they are amazing and if they are your type of shoes, you should wear them and make a point out of showing them off to everyone, they are fantastic, and you can wear them again afterwards if you dont want to save them, not everything has to been tradtionally wedding, its your day, do what will make you feel happy and comfortable in :) x

in the evening when it cools down a bit i'm gunna put my Iron Fist snuggly boots on, as they are purple lol
if its warm then i'm gunna put my shorter ones on just for comfort and they are my dancing shoes

Lol! I did think about just having some bright, sparkly diamondy shoes so they were a bit more weddingy but I really LOVE red, and those shoes. Definitely gonna go with those.

I dont think that anyone who knows me well will be expecting me to have a pear of white shoes under my dress. I have a slight obsession with shoes and not a single pair of them are plain boring shoes. Have seen some nice irregular choice ones that i want for the wedding although still havent quite decided. Lets just say when people see them they will notice but like i was saying to my H2B last night people wont be looking at my feet and i have to put a bit of me into the outfit somehow
