We went to see the priest yesterday to discuss details for the wedding and I got really excited.. anywho, I asked about entrance music, I wanted to walk down the aisle to pachabel cannon in D or Kissing you by Des'ree, I wasnt sure which one but then when I asked the priest if this was ok, he said that they no longer allow non religious music in the church! Im a bit disappointed and will have to walk into the normal wedding march. I know its only a small detail but I really had my heart set on either piece of music..
I wouldnt mind the standard wedding march isnt religious! booooo!

The priest gave us phtotocopies of all the readings we can choose from yesterday and has let us borrow a hymn book too so we could choose the ones we like. x

We were told that we could have whatever music we liked (within reason), for the entrance, signing of the register e.t.c. Must depend on the priest. But it is YOUR day not his! Xx

I didn't want the wedding march either as we are walking in as man and wife for a blessing so we are having ave maria instead which is going to be sung by the choir so will sound amazing. We are also having amazing grace as a hymn too. You could always pick something like that as it falls in with the religious hymns but isn't the wedding march.

Aw hun thats really unfair. We are aloud to have whatever music we like in the church. I personally want to walk down the aisle to a traditional wedding march but we are having a song instead of a 3rd hymm, a song for signing the register and a song for when we leave the church. Our vicar has oked this.

I think its only certain churches that are restricting. Our church has been extremely flexible and have said as long as we have one hymm and one bible reading, we can pretty much having anything else we want. But some churches are stricter then others. I hope they change their mind hun x

i dont understand how they can begrudge Pachebels canon either.... its madness... Have you spoken to the priest since and explained that you are really unhappy with this as this is the first time that these 'rules' were mentioned. Ask if there can be a compromise? Ive not heard the kissing you song but im sure its lovelly and you should be allowed to have what you like within reason. As Rhiannonollie says, its not like your having a mad song like iron maiden as you go down the aisle.

well i dont think he understood me to be honest... i wanted a cd verdsion of pachabels cannon with the violins in it etc.. i think he may have assumed it was a pop song!
Ive tried to ring him again to just check but he isnt answering... Ive called the woman who is the organist at church too. She will be able to tell me.. i just have to wait for one of them to call me back!

I spoke with the suggested organist today, she cant do our wedding personally as she is going away on holiday on that very day so we have to ask another woman. I asked her what her opinion was on whether or not I was allowed Pachabels Cannon, she said that as it can be played on the piano/organ so it should ok.
Im so relieved, I just need to find an organist now! :/ eeek!

Our Church was quite happy we chose Pachelbels canon rather than "disco music" their words not mine. We are having the trans siberian orchestra chirstmas version of it tho but not the rock version. The music director was really enthusiastic about it and told us we can load it along with our other music choices onto an Ipod and he will do the rest. xx
