Had a bit of a change of mind on my theme, still keeping the 50's in there but adding the hollywood glamour factor in. H2B loves movies! Colours are going to still be black, white & red. Instead of table numbers im thinking of having 50's hollywood stars pictures in black and white - which will also be on the table plan (ov course!) invitations im thinking old style theatre admission tickets..... table centres im thinking black candle bras, draped with pearls. My bridesmaids are going to be in black 50's style dresses with a white sash. Need a few more ideas to bring it together.......in my mind! at the moment its just all over the place lol x

That sounds lovely - especially like the idea of hollywood stars as table names/numbers.

Have you thought about using cream or ivory instead of white? Sometimes white can look a bit harsh against black, plus if you are having an ivory dress it would blend it with the theme too.

a few people have actually suggested using ivory instead of white so i think i might change it. i agree that it would probably go with the theme better than in your face white! thank you :-)

    what theme/colours are you having?

I associate the 30s and 40s more with old Hollywood glamour not so much the 50s.

For you a long fitted lace dress with a birdcage veil would be appropriate and have a simple chignon at the back with fingerwaves at the front. That ties in nicely with art deco stationary. For props and decorations you could put up vintage cameras and film clapboards - great centerpieces!

im thinking more of the Audrey Hepburn/Grace Kelly Era, i am going with a lace dress and bird cage veil. But i love the 50's and the women from there are very iconic. There is a picture of my proposed dress and my bridesmaid dresses in my albums.

Are you having a similar theme?

    Very pretty dress!

I dress up in 50s or 40s every day so I'll also wear a 50s style wedding dress and so will the bms. But the focus is more on the 50s kitschy side - lot's of polka dots :-)

oooh sounds fab! i had a sneaky look at the sketch of your dress, looks lovely. I thought about having a tea length dress but i felt like a wanted to swish on the dancefloor a bit lol plus i remember the H2B saying that he would like me in that style of dress, he doesnt know about the lacey side tho ;-)

its good to do something a bit different i think, definately a good way to express your personality :-)

    Thank you!
Cupcakes was the obvious choice for us and cupcakes are featured throughout the wedding.

Do you like a tiered white cake? You could have a simple white cake with a few tiers with black ribbon and have the Hollywood sign on one tier then a few black an white pics of actors and actresses and a few stars or typical glitzy props like black an white feathers or fans...

yes i have seen that, but in the white tiered cake there is red icing going down the middle like a red carpet and a bride and groom wedding topper with the hollywood star at the bottom, ive also seen film rolls with movie stars on them that are wrapped around the cake. ....

i paid around £40 per dress, i paid a little extra to have them made with a lace up back. I have had them for a while now and love them, they are so beautifully made.
