Hello my name is Lindsay and I've been with my partner Tim since 2005. We first booked our wedding for 2010 but had to cancel when Tim lost his job and I got pregnant with our first child. Once things settled down we tried again and a date was set for 1st august this year. again though it was cancelled when I fell pregnant and Tim moved out of the family home (early mis-life crisis). any way we are slowly getting back on track and he is coming round to the idea of commitment and playing his part in the family so now we are going for attempt number 3 although i have told him to pay all the deposits as i can't face losing any more money myself. we are looking to set the date for 27th august 2015 and have already found a great deal on a venue and have picked out a theme (either are definates yet though). fingers crossed we can get down the ailse this time and hope you 2015 brides will share the journey with me.

they do say 3rd time lucky.... you have plenty of time to plan and save and prepare for it, so take it in your stride and get things done gradually and im sure by 27th August you and your partner will be raring to go :D xx

To be honest, it sounds great that you appear to be getting back on track but as you said

By having the date in later end of 2015 this will allow you to enjoy your engagement and not put much pressure on your OH and may make him take a few steps back to where he is now. It might give him a bit more time to adjust and enjoy family life with your children first and ultimately benefit you all as a family :)
You could even set up an account for a wedding fund so that he knows that this money is set aside for that and slowly bring ideas onto the table and get him as involved as he is comfortable with. Obviously there is no harm in having a date in mind or booking the date itself, but from what you have said about how you OH possibly copes with commitment other details you may not want to go all in and discuss everything at the one time. (Which I know myself is hard because it is all I want to talk about with my OH since the engagement lol).

cheers all. he is very keen on the wedding side of things. its always been the pulling his weight side of our relationship he had trouble with, he just expected me to look after him not for him to help out if I needed him to. now he is starting to realise I can't do everything and is really making a big thing of helping out and bettering himself. Definately hoping its 3rd time lucky. Just hope my family and friend come round to the idea.
