Just had a quote in for a DJ for between £300-£450 depending on the package I go for this was a recommendation due to the way my venue set everything up certain lighting and speaker set up can't be done. What's everyone else's average cost because I was thinking this was 'reasonableish' xx

I have had quotes from £200 for the "In-House" Dj's up to £500....
Then I changed my mind and wanted a live solo swing/rat pack artist and a dj which quotes came in from £500-£700 dependant on time.

my venue's an old castle so has really high ceilings and art decor throughout so whoever i get needs to comply with the castle's rules which is the reason I think the prices are so high i'll get there in the end am sure. The latter quote wants exact numbers of guests which I thought was strange whereas the first bloke goes by size of room

Ours is £400 but our has a very fancy lighting package etc

Cant speak for DJ's outside the of London, but the cost start from 250 - 500, depending times, distance in London and surrounding areas.
For example, I have to have my equipment PAT tested which is not cheap, plus minimum of 10 million is public liability insurance. So I would ask your DJ's the question about PAT testing and PLI as you may find that YOU are liable for any injuries to your guests.
Hope this helps
CommentAuthor*Kat B*
Hi WeddingDJ
h2b is an electrician so sorting out the renewal on dj's equipment and I have my own business so I know all about the insurance side of things :)
I'm sorting out my own PLI on top of venue's and entertainment just because my venue's a english heritage site and wouldn't want to be stumped if a guest broke something by accident

Our DJ is charging £270 to play from 7.30pm - 1.30am but did say his prices depend on amount of people, venue layout etc. He covers all North West and was recommended by our venue (and my hairdresser who has used him for her wedding at the same venue).

when we enquired to see diffs between dj and band the dj quoted 285 plus VAT. He was recommended by venue but we went with band in end so not sure exactly what we would have got for that price
cant wait to be Mrs Evans less than 3 weeks woooo
start weight 10st 1.5 lbs
weight now 8st 4.5 lbs
total loss to date: 24.5 lbs now need to maintain!
Why does a DJ have to have a minimum of £10m PLI? I myself have £10m PLI, but there are no rules & regulations saying you have to. The only reason I have that policy is because I am a member of the National Association of Disc Jockeys (NADJ).
I have worked in some venues that have insisted on £1m, £2m or £5, but never £10m.
